If you can get it, shade grown actually tastes better. No need for chicory.

Steve, I use the first one listed on the site you linked to...the french drip or sock pot I talked about makes a concentrate that you mix with hot water at 3parts water to 1part coffee(or stronger)...I have drunk coffee au lait all my life although nowadays, I prefer it black with just hint of sugar...to make proper au lait, you must scald the milk by heating until just before boiling...then use it in the 3 to 1 ratio with the concentrate............

But I like the flavor of Chicory.... I might still have a little red neck in me...that would 'splain it.

All this talk of Coffee and Chicory actually began to jog my memory. Growing up I seem to recall my Pappie (Father) loved his "Red Label Luzianne Coffee and Chicory." Sometimes the "white label" can would appear.

I had not thought of this in years and don't remember seeing the Luzianne brand on the store shelf -- gotta look for them as well as the French Market -- See if the store's here in GA have them.

You should be able to find it, Geron...I can even get most varieties of Luzianne way up here in the north. Haven't looked for Red Label, but I'll check the next time I'm at the mom and pop market in the city where I can get special-source stuff. ;)

There, I can also get several varieties of Cafe Bustelo...no shy cuppa coffee in those cans!

Hi Geron,
I purchased the aero press for Paul for his Birthday. Thankfully, it arrived today, his b-day. Anyway, he made his first cup and loved it. He said it was a very smooth cup of coffee.

Thanks for the tip.

Paul, Lynn,

Glad Paul liked it.

I only have one problem with the Aero press.

It's so easy to make a single cup till I'll make a cup of coffee when I wouldn't brew a whole pot.

'specially since it is soooo Gooood!

Therefore, I find myself drinking too much coffee :( Brewed cup by cup I find it much fresher and less waste than pouring out "stale, burned" coffee sitting on the warmer of getting cold in the pot.

Matter of fact just finished a cup brewed right after lunch. Simply would not have put a pot on for just one cup.

Taster's Choice? I'd sooner drink ditch water ;)

For coffee we use Eight O'clock brand French Roast whole bean.

Camping:

Any number of ways. We have a small press, an old fashioned percolator for the fire/grill and a 42 cup electric for gatherings.

I'm actually partial to cowboy coffee as well but a lot of folks don't drink it...
