General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

by the way, mine was heavier because I had the tongue running to the crossmember ahead of the axle. A little more support for the lightweight crossmembers you will be walking on. I'll send you the file. Frame on it is 52"
I need a new Avatar. I'd put my dog up there but she doesn't look much like me. She's the skinny one.

Jim,

I need to tweak the body to match the new dimension I have on the frame. Once I do that I'll post it here. If I recall, the step format worked for you, right?

Yeah, .step works. I thought you were going to keep this in the shadow of the tow vehicle? 80" is comfortable with stock mirrors on my full size pickup, I could go 84" but sides of the trailer would be outside of the PU box.

Mike,

You said 54" to the outside of the frame. What's the hub face dimension and start angle on the axle?

Jim,

To keep the TTT in the shadow of the tow vehicle would mean building at 66" wide. While that would have been nice, for an extended stay, I think that's not practical. So I made it the same width as the Giant Teardrop, which is 78".

The start angle is the default from Flexiride, 22 degrees up. But it has a splined shaft, so I can change it if need be.

Hubface dimension is 68"

Outside face of tire dimension is 78"

Opps, it appears I had the chassis turned off in the last export... Here's a new step file with the chassis turned on. Sorry about that...

I saw my friends with the CNC router today. They now have the files for the top and sides to start milling out my curved pieces from 3/4" inch baltic birch plywood. I now have a couple of cabinet makers surfing the site and thinking maybe I am not so crazy after all. Looks like about 1 hour on the mill to turn out the needed pieces and we will begin the assembly. I will start a build journal as soon as we start. :D

Did you grab the ww4a files in my last post. You'll definitely want those instead of the first one I posted. The new file lets the triangles lay down flat, and also modifies the overlap to 3". If you use the old file, and get the triangles to lay down, you won't have enough overlap.

Andrew forwarded his Aotocad files. The side curves are all that are being cut for me. The rest is up to me to do at home in the garage.

Okay, it's back to work on the floorplan.

In my mind, I thought something like this would be comfortable living for 3 months for 2 people and 2 dogs.

But to get this to fit into the Alto WW, I've got some serious shrinking to do...
