Don't you love getting organized and cleaning out the mess?
I'm way overdue on a similar treatment to our garage.

Looks great Tom,
I'll up Bruce on this one  +
I'd love to have a garage, workshop that size and that organized. If I had a place to build one would help too.
Had to condense every down when we moved.
Stay safe, David

I was doing some work up a ladder and got tired of balancing the drill and impact driver across the top rungs carefully.

I know the feeling David! When I was in the Air Force, I moved every few years and never had the time, space, or money to put into a nice shop.

Been in the cabin for 15 years and are only now getting it organized the way we want it. We needed the experience of the teardrop build to know how we want things set up. Even more of it is being retired to have the time to do it!

Today I left with the dog's nice sunny day, Direct turn other side of the glass; cold.
Found this pile at the back gate
Not really shocked it's inside the gate; but she will be if she finds that pile

I re-seasoned the dutch ovens we keep in our teardrops.

Not normally a job I would consider fun, but it's our first step to getting the tear ready for our Spring trips! Also, the weather turned back to cold, windy winter outside, and this helps heat the cabin (a lot!)

The Northeastern climate last summer, especially along the coast, did a heck of a job on the ironware. I had to sand rust off. We used the frying pan so much, though, that it is okay.

Last year we did more touristing than camping, often getting back to the site late and eating a relatively quick dinner--sometimes even boil in the bag. I hope we'll do a little more laid back camping this year, along with more dutch oven meals.

I drilled one hundred and thirty six 4.5mm holes in some 50mm x 5mm steel. Took 2 hours, including setting up the drill press and finding a drill bit the right size and sharpening it. I think less than a minute per hole wasn't too bad. My first sharpening of the drill bit worked really well, it was peeling long continuous pieces of swarf out of the holes. The speed was right and the bit was sharp.

I'd have got right through the job without re-sharpening, if I hadn't driven the manual feed just a little too hard on the seventh to last hole. Leaned just a little too much weight and just jammed the tip as it broke through, and that twisted the very tip of the drill bit off.
These are backing straps for the big sliding gate I'm assembling for my son.

The timber slats are 1820mm long, but the frames were not built with any sort of centre bracing. 1.8m of 90mm x 25mm reeded decking can warp a long way outa shape. The lad expressed a desire for some spear tipped flat steel screwed to the backs of the slats to stabilise it all.

Ordered a new 100W panel to replace an old suitcase panel I made a few years back (2-20w panels). I chose one 100W panel as the physical sizes have come down on panels and this one (32"x26") is small enough to be able to move around. And it was about $60 less than the two 50W panel suitcase I built for my son's TD last year.

Some scrap cedar, a couple sets of 2" T hinges, some epoxy and velcro to store the legs and I've got a great portable panel for those days when following the sun with 100 watts will produce more than my shaded, flat roof mounted 200 watt array. Total cost was around $110 with 25' of 14awg wire extension. I'll probably store it in its shipping box until that gets ratty and then build a small 1/4" plywood box for it.

The long legs have a hole in the foot to drive a stake through and I'm thinking of putting a couple nylon straps with grommets on them for the end that sits on the ground. I had too many instances of the wind catching the old panels and blowing them over.
