Teardrop Christmas ornament - Contest - Completed

Postby Turtle49 » Sat Nov 17, 2007 2:30 pm

Background:
I just finished making this Paper Towel Weight for the Classic Finn (Heikki).

I used a 3/8" thick chunk of Jatoba (Brazillian Cherry) and inlayed it with Hard Maple. This prototype is finished with a coat of Amber Shellac and 2 coats of Lacquer. Future versions will only have a clear Lacquer finish.

My wife made an interesting observation. She said it would make a great Christmas ornament.

So.....

The Contest.
I'm looking for a cool Christmas saying for the back of the ornament. It would replace the "Livin' on Teardrop Time" that is already there.

Whoever posts the best saying will receive the first ornament as a prize.
In Addition I will throw in a Cedar sign that is no larger than 5.25" tall and 24" long. We can design the sign together, I will provide one color and sealing, if desired.

Check out some other signs I've done:

Contest Rules:
1. This is Christmas, keep it clean.
2. Post as many as you want.
3. All entries will have to be posted prior to midnight (in Michigan) on Sunday November 25th.
4. Shipping within the contiguous 48 states is provided. Out of country shipping will be negotiated.
5. I will be the one and only judge, my selection will be final.
6. As always have FUN!

After we come up with something good, I will be offering the ornaments or Paper Towel weights for $10 + free shipping to whoever is interested.
I will also consider custom shapes for a small additional fee.

Good Luck!
Tim

Now for a saying to go with it..  :scratchthinking:

Santa is to be on his way
after a Long and weary day
This Jolly Ol Boy
needs a cozy little place to stay.

So why not share your TD with him
on this Special Day :D

As we know
He is old and frail
And his sleigh is falling apart.

But if your humerous
and good at heart

Then please donate your TD
for his next seasons start.

No it wont all fit on this weight but hey its for fun.. :D :D

See the light shining afar
It is in fact not a great star.

Just this little teardrop
On a towel bar.

Just for fun :D

My picks, most based on Christmas carols.

1. I'm dreamin' of a Teardrop Christmas.
2. Reindeer!!!! We don't need no steenkin' reindeer.
3. It's beginnin' to look a lot like a Teardrop.
4. Silent night, teardrops in sight.
5. Oh holy night.... my Teardrop, she is finished.
6. Here come TD's, here come TD's, right down TD lane.
7. Whose TD is this, that's parked in back, of the lot, on which we are
camping !!!!!

"Hangin On"

As in hanging on to the paper towels!
