Wanted Kampmaster coupler handle

Postby bohemian » Tue Jan 18, 2011 9:43 am

I have recently been hired to restore a 1949 Kampmaster trailer.
Unfortunately on it's delivery trip from California to me in NY, Someone thought they needed the handle to the coupler more than the owner of the trailer. And no It didn't fall off because the bolt that held it on is still there with the nut on it. :(
So now I'm on a search to find a replacement. :worship:
If anyone knows where I could find one or has one for sale could you let me know.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

The same latch was on my first 1951 Aljoa. Try posting your request on the forum below for an additional audience for vintage trailers.

I have an older Delta disk/belt sander missing a guard. Went to an aluminum foundry today to see about having a replacement cast (a friend has a guard I can use as a pattern). Was quoted less than a hundred bucks for two of em. The price was a bit high as the guard is thin and will/may be difficult to get a good mold.

Maybe you could find one to use as a pattern and have a few cast. Bear in mind the new ones will be approximately 1.5% smaller than the original.

Could probably have "waffle dog cookers" made also if anyone had a good pattern and there is enough interest.

Cheers,

Gus

It's a long shot, but contact/email a picture to Vintage Trailer Supply. Perhaps in their travels they may know a source or trailer bone yard.

Say Wayne, I've got a coupler like that on my Dalton. But you can't have it. ;) Any ways like cliff, I know a few that restore vintage travel trailers and have parts in boxes. I'll do some checking for you and get back to you via PM.

Trivia question time! I knew the answer at one time. What does the "H" stand for on the tip. I am guessing Haddock, purely a guess.

I believe that the H stands for Hadco. Though I wouldn't bet on it.

Gage
Thanks for the help.
I have probably a couple of months work to do on this trailer so I'm in no great hurry. And if push comes to shove I'm sure I can come up with something that will work. I just need a block of Aluminum and a grinder.
Gage do you think you could send me a side view of you coupler handle.
Thanks again

Fletch is the first one I called.
He's the one who sold us our 1963 Shasta.

Well, I got a lead. It's a complete hitch that has been cut off another trailer. I'm working on it. He is not to sure if he want's to sale any part or all of it at this moment. But I'm trying. I'll see Bob in person in a couple of weeks where I'll really push him. ....... ;)
