Summer gas prices

Postby Mukilteo » Tue Feb 22, 2011 11:59 pm

Looks like this might be a stay-cation summer with all the threats of $4.00 a gallon gas.
As the gas prices go up it gets slower at work and we end up working part time.

That's only $2.12US. And here I thought gas was more expensive over there.

yes, but thats per liter, which is roughly 1 quart...so multiply that $2.12 by 4...its about $8.50 per gallon

I have several longer trips planned for this year, not going to change my plans. I'm far from being "loaded", but travel and camping are the only vices I have, so I'm going. Might have to work a few more hours to afford the fuel

That is $8.04 a gallon here.

3.7854117 liters per gallon, liquid @/$1.55=$5.87 Euros and you convert (multiply) the $1.3736 US dollars to $1 Euro = 8.04 I think. Still expensive.

corrected for the bad math..

I am still going camping but really gonna keep the costs down. If the campground is cheap I can go further. I am thinking at least one group thing that is boondocking would be great!

I am hoping it won't effect my camping plans but as gas does so does the cost of groceries and other needed items so we will see. It makes me very nervous that the recession may find its way back to full strength.

Thats correct with the present currency exchange rate at 8.50 USD per gallon. Still cheap?  We are going camping still.

Also we are lucky to have a very good transportation system so we dont use the car much.

I remember this discussion from last year and the years past - Nope it's not going to affect my travel plans unless the whole gas supply dries up instantly - I'm not going to go nuts over what will be in the long term a few extra dollars spent on fuel costs - at a dollar (what the heck, even two) - that translates into maybe an extra twenty per tank - assuming that you have a twenty gallon tank - and drive a Jeep commander  I'll just do without something else that I would normally spend that $20 on - like that extra helping greasy burger. Now that's healthy living due to high cost of gasoline. :D One final word - If you don't like the price - then make your own ;)

Fuel Prices

Postby Wild Bill » Wed Feb 23, 2011 10:54 am

I will still go but will just stay closer to home, What is our "Governments" excuse this time for fleecing us at the pumps? Riots and civil unrest in the Arab world nations? Perhaps we should drill and use more domestic oil and get less from the Saudis, then We can control the market and the pump prices, With this depression and the lack of Demand, the price should be $1.99 to $2.39 per gal. Millions of Americans no longer commute to work, their jobs have been sent overseas. Buy from Suppliers that use domestic oil like Murphys (walmart) or Sunoco, just a couple of examples. We have the power to change things for the better with our choices. Bill

For me my income has gone down by at least 50% in this economy. My cost of living seemd to be getting higher and higher.

If it comes down to make a house payment and eating or go camping. I stay home.

It is actually the corporations that have us by the you know what. Driven by greed as always. Gee, who cares about the average citizen. That is their philosophy and always has been. Look how we treated foreigners in the 1800's and 1900's and even today. But today it is different, because corporate america feels the same about all american workers. When are we going to say enough is enough with greed. Throw them (corporate ecec’s) in a plane (it would take a lot of them) and take them for a short one way flight over the ocean. Today is proof that the ruling class does not give a @#%! about it’s people. I say let the people who run the stores – RUN the stores. If you can’t run it then you find someone who has the people in mind and can follow directions. Hello, can anyone help the american people. Gee, no! The lights are on but there is no one home. There is no difference on how the corporate ecec’s and a large majority of politicians live. They are very similar to the tyrants of those foreign countries. Screw the little person, I just want it all for myself and select friends that are as evil as myself.

I feel better now.

I think you just expressed how many Americans feel. Large corporations can just raise there prices to keep the profit margin the same while us littles guys go under; and our Govt. is in bed with them.
When will our people get off of the couch and into the streets like we see happening in the middle east? Probably never, but; who knows.

Now I feel better too. LOL

Definitely foresee riding the motorcycle to work more often, on the good side it might be a good summer to sell my scooter. As far as vacations, I don't think I will go camping any less, have a trip to the Black Hills of South dakota planned and ITG in June otherwise I just am 30 miles from some nice state campgrounds. Maybe it will curtail the big rigs(fifth wheels and other big campers)so more spots will be available. Tried to get last minute spots last August and even the same day reservation spots where full all week.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.
