So many choices. Any suggestions from those of you that have used various options. All opinions welcome.

I would definitely go with a Chemical Toilet. I just don't like messing with the ones with the plastic bags, or the Drywall buckets. AND THE INFLATABLE ONES ARE JUST OUT OF THE QUESTION...I"M NOT GOING TO "BLOW UP" A TOILET.

Nothing specific but there are 2 styles of portable chemical toilets. Made by a couple company's.

One with a Foot pedal to flush and one with a handle you pull out & push in.

I have the handle one and have had the foot pedal one.

Get the Foot pedal.

Happy Trails

Len

Update;

after a quick search it appears the Foot models are not made anymore.

We have two different Coleman camping toilets. One does not flush and the other does. We have only used the non flush one. It looks like a hassock and can also be used as a seat. It uses disposable bags that are available on line and at some Walmarts.

While they are rather expensive (almost $2 a bag) they have an inner bag with powder that turns to a gel when wet. You take the inner bag and fold down into the heavy duty outer bag and close with the double lock zip lock closure. Then just dispose of in regular trash. We feel like it's worth the price for the convenience!

Some people have made their own bags from heavy duty plastic bags and put some cat litter in the bottom along with a little baking soda. We have not tried this yet. We only use the toilet at night when it's too dark and/or too cold or to far to go to the campground toilet. Works best for liquid waste as it can be used all night and disposed of in the morning.

We prefer this to the liquid flush type due to it's disposal convenience and it's looks and design. I purchased this for less than $20 on sale at a Coleman outlet store. I'm not sure they are available anymore. We use it in our T@B at night and leave it outside during the day. I haven't used it in the TTTT as they is not enough room and I don't have a shower tent yet.

There are folding types that you can buy at Walmart but we like this better.

Sorry about the small picture as it's the only one I could find on line.

These can be found at Walmart too! I have a different one from Walmart that looks like a TV tray fold out thing but it is only good for when I take the car fishing. It really is a pain to set up and not real stable.

The portable toilet we use in the TD is a flushing and is taller than some. Plastic will take on a funky smell over time but these can be cleaned really well with non-corrosive toilet cleaner. You do have to clean the seals well or they stink.

Like Sonof T@b, I like the non-flush type. Instead of the hassock style, I bought the "Luggable Loo" from Walmart. I like it because it is taller and just a little less wide plus it has a standard style toilet seat and lid. I find that it is more comfortable to sit on as a seat or otherwise. It uses the same Reliance brand or the Ozark Trail toilet waste bags, both of which are available in Walmart stores. The powder used is bio-degradable and, is therefore approved for disposal in trash bins. Because the powder is already contained in the plastic liner, there are no chemicals to purchase or add and no water to add. Once used, the powder turns itself and the deposited liquids into a gel, which will not run out. Both the hassock style and the loo style toilets are a wee (pun) bit safer than the fold-up frame style because there is something there to help protect the bag from punctures and tipping. You can add a rock or brick under the bag, in the bottom of the container, if you want, as well. However, I have taken it tent camping and left it in the tent, without even adding a rock and it has never tipped over or been a problem in any way. As long as you change the bag every day, you should not have a problem. Below, is a picture of mine, uncovered from its hiding place.

Many of Walmart’s camping products are available on-line only. But, they have site to store service whereby you can order it and pick up at a store near you, with no shipping fees charged. You can find many different styles and conveniences here:

I am a fan of the Luggable Loo, as it is usually just for night time use in my tiny trailer. I consider toilet maintenance a "guy job" and it is easy to remove the waste from the trailer in the morning and not store it as done with a chemical toilet. Myself? I prefer going outside and finding a tree in the middle of the night that needs watering. 8) I put my Luggable Loo seat on top of a 3 gallon bucket because it would fit under the bed and was just the right height sitting on the step in front of the bed in the Gypsy Trailer.

We set up a toilet/shower privacy tent outside. We use the PETT/Clean Waste toilet, it also uses the Wag Bags with gel powder. The inner/outer bags and gel is biodegradable, so they can be buried or disposed of in a trash container.

We have used a Thetfor 465 electric flush porta-potti for about 4 years
Simple to use, odorless, easy dump and rinse
makes for a good stool when changeing clothes, also we are still using the same batteries that we started with.
We have used it for up to five days on the road or camp, have not had to dump before returning home yet.

Me too! Terrific toliet (seat) & a 6gal bucket... we use it for nighttime when you just don't want to walk to the camp facilities @ 2am..

The Pett with a home made booster that makes the ride much nice for a tall person and serves as a storage unit. Worked with the teardrop and now lives in my trailer. :D
