Work Camping in a Teardrop?

I was wondering?
Has anyone done work camping before, with there Teardrop?
If so I'd like to know how it went.
You know the Pro's & Con's and so on.

One of the reasons we stepped into the realm of TD's is: A few years ago, I was commuting across the state for work and had to sleep in my vehicle 3-4 nights per week. I tried the company parking lot once, but the facility worked 24/7 and noises kept me up most of the night. (times were tough, money was tight)

From there, I checked into a Camp Site/RV Park on the outskirts of town for about $10 a night (STILL sleeping in my vehicle, but with amenities available)

Looking back, a small investment in a TD would have made life much more bearable; perhaps even comfortable.

Should I ever be faced with the same, I KNOW I will be comfortable, clean, well-fed and have a roof over my head.

WOW!!! What a time you must of had.
I do agree that car camping for an extended period of time can be a tuff one.

And having a TD would have made life a lot more bearable.
But I'm glad you keep a smile, and made it through it.

A few years ago, during a job transfer, I was using a camper during the week. I'd drag it to work on Monday, go out to the campground Monday night, set up and camp till Friday morning. Then I'd pack it up and take it to the storage lot Friday after work.

It was a bit of a chore getting up early enough to pack up and get to work on Friday, but my work schedule was flexible enough to accommodate it.

I was using a popup, not a TD, but it worked out pretty well. It was nice having my own bed.

I just finished almost 7 months in mine. This was a very nasty winter even for those of us in the west. Especially if you had to live in a TD. I gave up and upgraded to a vintage travel trailer. After a few days stuck inside your TD and no electricity, it gets to you.

I guess I like the idea of being on the road more, sense both of my kids are now grown and out on there own now.
But still not sure if doing it in my teardrop would be fun for months at a time.

It would be more fun if I didn't have to work, but I still have to for now.

I've used my teardrop for school camps a couple of times. As the teacher in charge of 90- 10 year olds and 20 rowdy parents it is really good to be able to escape to the trailer and have a decent night's sleep.

Just make sure the wheels are well chocked so no-one can wheel you about when you're asleep!

Pat I have a friend who toured the US in a TD after a while he found he wanted more room so he purchased a 13 foot Scamp.

a trip to the northwest made him realize 13 foot and two people wasn't a good fit.

they now have a 16 foot Casita that they used for a 9500 mile trip last year and are very happy.

If you have doubts now I would go with those doubts.

Having said that since you have a TD go and enjoy it may turn out several short trips will be fine and you can make up your mind then.
