Wine Cellar Refigeration in a TD

Postby Gary and Cheri » Thu Jun 02, 2011 1:05 pm

Has anyone ever thought about using a wine cooling system as an air conditioner in their tear? Seems like there are a variety of small air conditioners available for that fancy cellar we are all dreaming about filling with various grape products.

Seems like the tear drop interior (for example 7' L x 5' H x 5' W = 175 cu feet) would be too small for something that is set to cool 1000 cu feet. You would age well, though.

They are also very expensive. I am trying to find how they cool and it appears some of them are actually evaporative coolers of some sort (not the bigger ones).

It's hard to argue with the economics of a 5000 btu $99.00 little window shaker.

The 250 cubic feet of the barn required all the little unit would pump out on high cool in 96 degree summer heat !
