12 volt coffee makers

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

From what I've read take forever to make a pot of coffee and in the morning my patience for waiting on the coffee to make, short lol Seriously from what I've seen takes about twice as long to brew a pot compared to 120.

slow, during my trucking career, I have thrown at least a couple out the window of the truck...they took upwards of 45min to an hour to make coffee...the best one I had was a dual voltage(12/120) model that looked like a little yellow, self contained perk pot and it took 30min to make 16oz pot...I wouldn't waste my money, especially if it looks like a Mr Coffee style coffee maker...............

They do make coffeemakers with timers to have it done when you crawl out of the sack. I'd not go without one. half decent inverter if I'm not tethered to shore power.

slow, they pull in the 10amp range...don't you use one of those little 12v heaters???? It probably pulls similar amperage...they do actually make pretty good coffee, the time frame was a killer..........................

I have a 12 volt coffee maker, and it takes about twenty minutes to brew a pot of coffee. The thing I like to do with it is if your out ATVing taking it with you it's not that bad to have around. Plus I live in an area where the power goes out all the time. some things are just to important to mess with for other peoples safety coffees one of them

I usually take a small board that I have and place it on the front seat of the car, and the coffee maker on that start the car and plug it in. The time seems allot less cause I usually drive to a friends place and share some fresh brewed coffee with them. I have brewed it with out the car running but it does require a lot of battery power to do so. Also wanted to add that it is excellent to take to the lake with you don't notice the time when your swimming or fishing

I would suggest a coffee press instead. Heat some water over a fire, on a stove, or whatever other way you have, pour it in the press with some fresh ground coffee (store bought ground and canned works fine), stir it and wait about 3-5 minutes. Press the plunger down, and its all set.
IMHO, coffe made that way tastes much better then drip brewed anyway. Drip brewed now tastes slightly burnt to me.

I'd also recommend the French Press.
There are at least three ways I can make hot water and I just pour it over the coarse ground coffee, stir with a wooden spoon for a bit, and pour the hot water into the carafe. It's important to use coarse ground coffee so that you don't clog the filter on the bottom of the shaft. A wooden spoon won't break the glass as a metal spoon probably will. Good luck! Enjoy. There's nothing like the smell of fresh hot coffee in the cool of the morning. And that first sip, wow.

...the 12v coffee makers I have had COULD NOT BE USED IN A MOVING VEHICLE(don't ask how I know)...I do have a 12v water heater...it is one of those coil heaters mounted in a 16oz bottle...it heats up to near boiling in about 15min...you could then use that with tea, instant coffee, french press or an AeroPress ...I like my AeroPress, especially when camping..........
