OMG Left So Cal late Thursday (rush hour) through Los Angeles and made it up highway 5 to the 99. North, north ran through my head as the sun set over the central valley. Squinting, shifting, radio on, radio off. onward we must go. Sacramento and another stop for fuel and a p spot for the dog "Daisy" This was Daisy's first road trip with me. Finding the highway again after "the scenic route" and onward north we pushed. Finally, finally a sign, Rest Stop. We pulled in, pit stopped, watered the dog, the kid and me. Crawled into the deap dark cavern of the bed of the truck, rolled out the sleeping bags, got daisy to lay down, got sleeping kid into the sleeping bag, crawled in, propped the shell hatch so we had fresh air and passed out! 0530 and the alarm on my phone screamed get going. North, north again we pushed on. Fueled up so many times I cant remember (but my credit card will). Pit stop somewhere in the middle of Shasta Nat. Park for Daisy and admiring the surroundings when Daisy sniffed something. Something really big. Oh look, blackberry bushes, not many blackberries though, HOLY C&@p, nor really the big thing was BEAR POOP. Full of blackberry seeds. Hurry up get in the truck and north again. Finally, Oregon, just a little farther. North, north to Eugene. We made it. Called the owner of the Red Dale and let him know we made it. Oh come by in an hour to close the deal. OMG I just drove a thousand miles and now I have to keep going. No prob. Lets go. Well we sealed the deal. The trailer hooked up and we are on our way. South to Cottage Grove for our first night in the trailer. A little family time with my youngest daughter and by 12 noon Saturday we are off to Reno. Reno bound to see my eldest daughter. Why not? Lets just drive. Why not. Overnight stop in a campground somewhere dont know where just somewhere. Daisy is a trooper. Like she did road trips in her previous life. Up early and on the road again. Reno bound. Lovely drive to Grass Valley and a delicious breakfast and onward through the Sierra. Hardly any traffic, yippee! Down the mountain into Reno and meeting my eldest daughter for lunch. Hugs and kisses and on the road again south on 395 my favorite road trip. Weather overcast and scattered showers in Reno and by the time we topped off the tank in Carson City full on flash floods, south onward. Topaz, Bridgeport, June Lake Loop, Mammoth, Rest Stop

Bishop! Pit stop at Schats Bakery and 2 loaves later we hit the road again. The whole way intermittent rain. We push on finally to Mohave. No offense but what a pit. Fuel up and pit stop and we survived. Onward through the Antelope Valley and into the L. A. basin. Back to reality. Almost there, keep those eyes open, radio on, radio off. Finally. HOME! We Made It. The new trailer made it. Now leaks in the rain. No blown tires. No crashes. I need sleep and am so happy to be home.
1972 10 foot Red Dale. Picks coming soon as soon as my brain recovers. P. S. Daisy the Chocolate Lab (foreclosure rescue) has road trips in her blood. Who knew!
