10x10 canopies at Home Depot on clearance!

Postby DragonFire » Sat Sep 24, 2011 10:41 pm

I had to share...I hope I'm posting in the correct spot...

I just got my 10x10 canopy at Home Depot for $69. They had 3 colors..green, red, and something else. They are Shade Tech brand with Aluminex UV protection. The green is not hunter..a bit more yellow than that, but not avocado. They are in the front of the store in the outdoor/tailgate area...near where they moved the grills so they can fit it the pellet stoves for winter.

They looked like a good deal and I wanted the green. Can't wait to get my (future) trailer on this side of the Sierra and see how it looks under it!

That's a good deal, and the 10x10 canopy is a great thing. We used ours today for a birthday party. We've used it at the beach. We've used it tent camping and trailer camping. They're great!

Thanks! I'll have to head over today to check it out. Did these models accept side walls?

My GF and I were at a Tearjerkers camp-out this weekend but we ended up getting all of our stuff soaked and sleeping in a gigantic puddle as we set the tent up during a torrential downpour. Many campers commented that's why you put up a 10x10' quick canopy over the spot you will put your tent, and only then do you screw around with the tent.

they should accept side walls. On the tag they stuck on one at the first HD I went to it said it came with 1 side wall. I opened up the rolling bag it comes with and found there was no top or sidewall..someone returned it used without all the parts!! It was $119.

So we headed to the next HD and found them all stacked up, new in the box, for $69. I don't see mention of the sidewall on the box, but I will find a way to construct one. Or 2. Or 1 and 1/2. There are probably instructions on it here somewhere, and if not, I'll figure it out.

When I was a kid, it rained on our Girl Scouts Camporee. Almost every troop left, but our leader said we would stay to the very end. We were in old canvas tents and everything was soaked. It was cold and miserable. Only one other troop stayed...it was the other Junior troop in our town, thus our competition. And most of those girls went home.

What I learned from that experience is that I need a trailer if it might rain!! I don't think it's cheating to camp with a teardrop..it's just glorified tent camping!!

At my Home Depot, the $119 model is the commercial/heavy-duty model, with three layers on the top canopy for ventilation and includes one side plus a rolling travel bag. In-season price was listed as $199.99, stock number 159-064, made by Quik Shade. I decided extra ventilation would be good for when we cook under it so I went with that instead of the regular model.

Playing with it in the yard, the extra top pieces are a bit of a pain if you want to get under shelter immediately, you have to stop with it 80% stretched out to make sure the two upper sections are seated properly (no Velcro tabs on them, if I knew a safe way to glue stuff to it, I'd stick on a loop of One-Wrap for each corner) and then pop it up the rest of the way.
