What the heck is this "text enhance"????

Postby Oldragbaggers » Sat Oct 08, 2011 9:21 pm

Just recently something called text enhance is showing up in the threads. Some words are appearing underlined and in green and when you run your cursor over them they are personals ads, and some of them have photos that are quite explicit. Anybody know how to get rid of it?? I find it very annoying.

I've noticed that too but no pics came up. Look above on the right where it says "email Admin" and ask them about it.

It is nothing more than people putting "LINKS" in their text....

Its using the concept of placing a "URL" (Ultimate Resource Locator) embedded in a sentences and using a designated "word" or a "string of words" to activate link ...

Been around forever (since HTML) and people are just learning to use it....

Check in the BBCode of "editor" for editing text for clarity or explanation...

Actual embeded code...

Code: Select all
Check in the [url=http://www.mikenchell.com/forums/faq.php?mode=bbcode] BBCode[/url] of "editor" for editing text for clarity or explanation...

Or click link below...

http://tnttt.com/faq.php?mode=bbcode

You can make the "word string" the in the "link" all caps, all lowercase, any color, bold, underlined and/or italics just like any "normal" text editing (decorations) with BBCodes....

IF the person putting the "link" in a sentence is really clever, it (the link) can open up a JAVA Script window and display what ever the message is in your present screen without taking you to some distant place. And usually you have to "X out" of JAVA script window to get it to close.... And YES I do find some of the "Links" a nuisance when I do "mouse over" and it pops open a window without any "prompting" (mouse click) from me....

As "madjack" says, if you find a link and its offensive yell at moderator and report the offense....

I'm not seeing it but it could be these guys.

Some forum providers have teamed up with them and it could be why you're seeing the links.

If these words turn to links than that's probably what's happening.
