Aluminum fenders

Postby bushido41 » Thu Jan 19, 2012 11:37 am

Hello Everyone,

I have a quick question, I need to replace my plastic fenders and will like to have Diamond plate or aluminum. The problem I am having is the sizeof my fenders seems to be custom and can not find any close to them. The size is 10" width, 36" front to back and 16 inches high.

I found this ones http://recstuff.com/36x1034singleaxle063marinegradealuminumtrailerfender.aspx , and I think I can work with them, but not sure about the aluminum thickness. Is .063 or 1/16 thick enough?

As usual thank you very much for your help.

Those look very similar to the Little Guy fenders, but I think the LG fenders are a little thicker (going by a cloudy memory here). I had to replace one of mine that got dented by some VERY large road debris and they were $45.

But, I think the one you linked to should work great!

Hello Mike and B.,

Thank you for the information and I will check with LIttle Guy also. While I was at IRG in Minden this year on the return trip an 18 wheeler loss a recap and I could not maneuver out of the way. The recap hit the underside of the trailer and damage one of my plastic fenders. The fender got a bit more damage on the long return trip home in Florida. I have been looking around for the past few months and finally found these ones that look nice and will fit.

Again thank you for the comments.

aluminum fender question

Postby norm@pdx » Fri Jan 20, 2012 9:35 pm

i just purchased aluminum fenders from Rec., the smooth version.
32x15x10.75+. shipped fast and arrived unscathed.

they are 1/16" thick and very light, weight wise. they should work just fine, but i would not use them for a "step".

i had purchased the aluminum diamond plate version years ago, forgot the vendor, and they were thicker.

Thank you Everyone,

I just ordered the fenders from the link, Thank you for the information about the thickness, that is exactly what I needesd. They will be strctly fenders and no weight will be place on them. My thinking was hat they can not be worse than the plastic ones I had.
