ATTENTION Texans

Postby Todah Tear » Wed Mar 28, 2012 11:38 am

The following message regarding voters registration was sent to me today. I check SNOPES and did not find anything about it. The website that it references is an official Texas State site.

Pass the info on!

Subject: Texans MUST re-register to vote in 2012
Please read and take immediate action to ensure that your right to vote in the upcoming election is not void.

Your voter registration has probably expired!

Texans MUST re-register to vote in 2012
CHECK YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION!!!

This is a very important election year. Have you checked your voter registration card?
They all EXPIRED December 31, 2011!!!

Until this year voter registration cards were automatically mailed to arrive before expiration, but that did NOT happen this year.
They are waiting for the new 'redistricting' to be approved? That means you will have to get a new registration certificate.
If you do not, you will NOT be able to vote!!!

Go to either your County Clerk Office, OR
'Google' Voter Registration then select your county. Click on "Request a Voter Registration Application.”
Next, click on the "Informal Online Registration Application". It will take you to the registration form entry point.
Once you answer "Are you a U.S. Citizen?" it opens the form for you to complete.
Complete the form, print it and MAIL it to the Registrar of Voters address at the upper left of the printed form.
You can also go to your local post office, pick up a Voter Registration Card and MAIL it back in.
Please pass this on to friends, co-workers, church members and facebook friends that live in Texas
to double check their Voter Registration Cards for the expiration date.

Here is the link to take you straight to online registration.
You will have to print it out at the end and mail it in.

According to the Nueces County Voter Registration office, re-registration is NOT required. Because of waiting on the final redistricting maps, cards could not be sent out before the old cards expired in 2011. New cards are scheduled to be sent in late April. They told me this was a state-wide issue and that no one should have to re-register.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

* You are welcome Thomas.

** Tony, I have gotten the same info from some friends, to whom I forwarded the message.

To be on the safe side, go to your county's election website. My county has a place where you can put your name and BD in and verify that you are currently registered. If you don't find your name, register. They too are promising cards by April 25th. We shall see!

Todah.
