IRG Ready

Postby nrody » Mon Jul 09, 2012 9:32 pm

Today I took my teardrop to my mechanic for the pre trip once over. They double checked my wiring and fixed what I could not accomplish. I do believe I am IRG ready. I have to give extra points to my extended family at "Your Car Specialist" in Santa Fe Springs. They have taken care of me and my vehicles for over 30 years without fail. Today was a gift to me and I so much appreciate that as funds are limited at the moment. I am blessed that they are there for me. Thank you Rick, Steve, Greg and Carlos you are the best of the best. :)

 I'm laughing only because I always take about 3 times too much stuff, too much food, and I always forget something.....this time it will probably be one of those "don't forget" lists :NC

I'm headed out of town so I won't be able to prep the trailer until the week before I leave. I've hauled it thousands of miles all over the country so I'm pretty confident with it. I'll just check the bearings for play and the tire pressure. The first IRG we brought way too much stuff. I think I didn't bring enough to the last IRG, I forgot a lot of items, like plates, matches, silverware.

I am really nervous. This is our first teardrop outting and the teardrops maiden voige since i have rebuilt her. And we may head to dads in idaho after the irg. I barely got the wiring done and it would not have been ready if not for the onceover by my mechanic to chesk my work. Tge tear is from the 40s and it has not been on the road for at least tweanty years.

Nancy, I understand your nervousness, but it sounds like you've had everything checked so I'll bet you are good to go. If you are headed to Idaho after IRG via 199 and I5, I would be happy to caravan with you as far as Portland. See you in two weeks!

Dad is in Idaho between Plummer and St Maries 26 miles off the paved road.
Maureen I have not picked a route to Idaho yet. My daughter is in Eugene and we can caravan at least that far. We can work out the details at the IRG.
If anyone would like to caravan from the Los Angeles area I plan on leaving on the 23rd or early on the 24th let me know. I do not want to rush to get there and do want to enjoy the drive. Thinking about spending the night around the sacramento area if I leave on the 23rd.

Thats waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up north. Nice place to be. I have only been to St Maries once. And that was back in the early 70s.

Have a good time at the IRG.

IRG ready, you bet. I've got my Matag washer and dryer, the spotted owl and the little rubber frog, all packed up and ready to roll. (Thanks Dean). I think I'll drive up Highway 1, along the coast, haven't been that way for 15 years or so. May have to leave a few days earlier and not be in a hurry. I gotta kick the Chinese "May Pop" tires on the HF trailer, (they may "POP" anytime!) I guess a new coat of paint might not be a bad idea, gotta protect all of that 1/8" Lowes lauan plywood in the event of rain in the North. See ya there.
8) :D  Roly, bringing the 245 pound Stacker and my trusty dog, Foxy-Roxy, the rescued Pomeranian. Woof, woof.

Hi Roly
Not to hijack this post. But hope you will be home in and around mid August, as we would love to meet you along our journey.
