MX-5 tows great

Postby wincrasher » Mon Jul 16, 2012 2:09 pm

Got my Hard Dog hidden hitch installed on my MX-5. Had to remove the entire rear bumper cover, lights, bumper beam and rear wheel splash guards to get to where it goes. Then needed to drill additional holes. But everything went easily. The wiring harness for the lights I got from Curt. Simple plug and play (no splicing) and it had circuit isolation. Went for a test pull - MX-5 tows it great. Do have to watch my tongue weight though. I'm at 150# now and the rear dips about an inch.

That is great and looks good. Check to see if there is a AEON spring helper kit for your vehicle and you will not worry about tongue weight. Here is a the web site http://www.timbren.com/aeon-rubber-springs.htm

Thanks, but don't think that is necessary. You certainly wounldn't want to do such a thing to a sportscar suspension.
