molded fiberglass Teardrop

Postby terryjones1 » Fri Jul 27, 2012 7:23 am

Looks like a new teardrop trailer manufacturor.

http://tear-drop-trailers.fibertrontrai ... l-trailers?

Local Sacramento area dealer sells them at a discount.

I have no connection, whatsoever, to Fibertron nor to Panpacific RV.

MSRP is incredibly pricey, but if the dealer selling discounted teardrops were in my area, I'd be tempted. They look very nice, although it looks like they have co-opted the Little Guy profile & proportions for their design.

It's very disappointing that, given the ability of fiberglass to make complex shapes economically, that they've gone for such an uninspiring hatch design with such a small opening:

OK, anything more complex requires a mold that's a bit more expensive to make, but it's a shame to see a 'ship spoiled for a ha'porth of tar' (does that expression exist in the US?).

Interesting... the contact email is thelittletrailerco. Little Trailer Company is the original builders of Little Guy, when they were located in Elkhart, IN. They were the builders of my trailer. It would appear that when the original company broke up, one or more of the original principals retained some of the rights to the profile and nomenclature. Either that, or there will be lawsuits flying shortly.

Well, the use of the Rascal model name aside, I'm not quite sure I see the major objections.

The price is less than other fiberglass TD's I've seen.

The design? Given how Lil Guy's reverse TD is virtually identical to a number of others that are on the market, I'm not sure they're in a major position to complain.

No, they're certainly not original. But then, that's nothing new.

That said, I do prefer the Nest Egg to this. But, it is more expensive than this. At least these sale prices, anyway.

if you go to the Fibertron website, it says they bought the name/etc from Little Trailer Company. I looked at the link a few days ago when this was first posted. Somewhere on the website, I saw a notice saying that they bought the name only and were not associated with the exterior problems the previous Little Trailer Company encountered. Found the statement on http://www.littletrailerteardrops.com/

Notice: In the fall of 2009 thelittletrailerco sold the name The Little Guy & no longer builds laminated teardrops with exterior maintenance issues.
