You are cordially invited - 9 Hour build

Postby grizz » Sat Jul 28, 2012 3:51 pm

Thought I would post up here too for anyone interested in a quick build.

My mate Derryn invited me to come and help him to build a playhouse for his kids.

His mate Chris was also roped in.

In turn I called my mate Peter (Goose) to see if he wanted a break from hiis lovely mum in law....... ;D

I was up at Derryns place by 07.30...... met by a very sleepy Post Olympic opening ceremony host.

Image

A cuppa tea later and I was met by this ....

Image

Chris came along a bit later.
He is a very handy and capable handyman and chippie.

The Materials supplied with the Playhouse kit leaves much to be desired, so Derryn actually did buysome sheets of OSB and more treated timber to be used for the base.

We overlaid the supplied flooring and cut the boards to size.

Framing the flooring

Once the floor and base was sorted, things started to come together much faster, but a couple of slip ups along the way saw us dismantling and rebuilding some of the sides.

At this point, Helen came back from the shops and took a pic of the four of us.

Image

Did I mention that it is a double storey ???

Image

Image

Chris supervising and Peter holding up the monkey bars.

Image

I missed out on taking some pics at this point, so next up we were at this point.

Image

Roof battens in place.

Image

Image

Roof panels going up

Image

Image

Roof felt.... magic stuff. Makes you realise most of the hard work is done.

Image

Door hanging needs much supervision.

Image

Last job was to add some trellis to the side so that people did not lose an eye on the corner of the roof.

JOB DONE !! (Paint to be done by Derryn and the kids)

Image

There you go...... 9 hours including sandwiches, coffee and calculations.

Hope you are impressed with this team effort.
Greetings from England.

Rian.

Hoping to get it all done in time.

If you'd given me about 14 hours notice and a plane ticket I'd have bought lunch.

Cheers,

Gus

I'm impressed!

Neat looking playhouse, and great story and pictures!

Great project. But I thought you live in England. I see way to much sunshine and blue sky in your pictures.

Enjoy it while you can.

Thanks all.

Gus, you know you and the boss are always invited and welcome here.

Randy ......... Ssshhhhhhhh !!

Its our first bit of sunshine this year. Guess its summer over then.

It was a decent day but we had rain overnight and at about 8.30am just when all the tools were laid out.

Playhouse? Heck, I was looking for the pic where you mounted it on the trailer!

Great job. Pretty cool construction method.

Somebody needs to build a TTT that way!

A nice " log built" trailer will look great. But I suspect will be heavy.
