ordered a cargo trailer tday 7-31-12

Postby pete42 » Tue Jul 31, 2012 9:55 am

oh my goodness I've gone and done it now....
after looking at a 17 foot HI-LO $7000, an A shaped CHALET for $4500 that had soft floors,
a 19 foot cramped travel trailer $6800, another A shaped CHALET for $5000
I thought I had found my cargo trailer a 2012 7 foot wide 14 foot long V-nose asking $6500 would take $6100
15,500 ac with heat strip, 2 4' lights, 2 12 volt lights, 100 amp electrical panel, 50 amp cord.
the owner had done the electric his self which I would have had to redo the entrance he took two
50 amp male plugs attached them to a short cord the socket on the trailer was female.
If you plugged the cord into an outlet before plugging it into the trailer you would have the prongs
on the plug hot with electricity an accident just waiting to happen.
I would have to add an awning, entrance step, windows, stabilizing jacks, screen door.

instead I called R&R trailers in Michigan and ordered a 7X12 delux
AC, roof vent, d-rings, 4 screw down stablizing jacks, electric brakes, rv door with screen door, 2 22X30 sliding windows,
awning, entrance step, 120 volt 30 amp cord and panel,
$6599 I have waited too long I'm not getting younger
so for about $500 dollars more I have everything I want except insulation which my brother says he will help do.

please tell me I didn't mess up............... :frightened:

Pete,

You did good! Although spending money in these times is tough, for something your going to keep, it is worth the few extra $ and extra time to get it how you want it.

My wife has been a trooper in camping in our teardrop. She has expressed getting something bigger with an inside bathroom and maybe a shower. Like you, we've looked around a pop-ups and other mini-camping trailers, and can't find anything that we could justify the money for and/or had decent quality.

I look forward to your conversion. Congrats...you ought to be very proud of your new purchase.

Take care,
Tom

Pete,
I have always enjoyed reading your responses on the CT conversions and I am happy that you've got your trailer ordered!

And with your brother helping with insulating you'll be on the road before you know it!!!!

Congrats Pete! With the comparison shopping you did that sounds like a fine deal. Having all that equipment already installed will make the conversion move all that much faster. Looking forward to seeing it

Congrats, Pete!!! It has honestly pained me to see you say so many times that you wanted a CT to be able to have the mobility you need, but that you just couldn't do it.....Guess what??? You just did it!!!!! I'm so happy that you get to go where you want to go, without having to mess with motels. You are free :D

Now, how long before it gets here? Are we going to have an "insulation installation party"??????

Trailer is suppose to be ready Aug 29 we leave for williamsburg Va. Aug 30 around 4pm.
the trailer was suppose to be ready the 28th but now 29th I told them I had reservacations the 31st
and we are leaving the 30th they said "no problem" we''ll see.
I know others have remodeled their trailers but since I can't
I paid more to get it the way I wanted. after the trip I will start doing
some layout planning.

We will be just over the Indiana line at Mounds State Park in Anderson IN on the w/e of 9/28 thru 9/30. I think you ought to bring it over and show it off at our Tearjerkers gathering.

I lost my 99 year old aunt today she lived in Houston, texas real spry up until 2 years ago
she has been in a nursing home past 2 months.
her 90 year old sister called couple days ago and told me the 99 year old one wasn't doing well
now I find out the 90 year old aunt is to sick to travel so she feels bad about that.
one good thing is they had a good visit last month.

makes the buying of my new cargo trailer all the more the right thing to do
if I can get some good years using it I will be a happy camper

I have decided the delivery date which was moved from aug 28 to aug 29 was to close to our aug 30th date to leave for williamsburg va
I have posponed going and getting it until we get back in september
hotel reservations are made I hope the last I ever need to make.
thanks to everyone and I hope to make a couple TD gettogethers soon.
