Joanie had to go to the hospital after the IRG...

Postby Dean in Eureka, CA » Tue Jul 31, 2012 12:01 pm

We pulled out of Pamplin Grove at 11:15 am on Monday and spent the next 4 1/2 hours unloading at both houses to get the U-Haul truck returned in time, then we plunked ourselves in a hot tub for an hour of relaxation and had a nice dinner together in Arcata. On our drive back to the hill, we stopped at Terry & Fiona's nail salon to see how things were going and found out Fiona was in labor with their first child. Joanie left immediately to assist with the birth. It's now almost 10:30 am on Tuesday and Joanie just called me... She hasn't slept yet, but will soon.

Congratulations to our dear friends, Terry & Fiona on the birth of their daughter - Xena at 4:00am this morning!!!! :P :P

Dean, you are such a comedian. I read the title and just knew poor Joanie had worked herself to exhaustion and maybe something a lot more threatening than that.

Thank you for the great event. It took me six years to get to IRG and it totally came in beyond my expectations. There is no way to say thank you enough.

:baby: It's a girl!! 6 lbs. 11.7 oz, 19" long and she is so pretty.
I was about 15 minutes away from slipping into a real bed when I stopped by to check-in, and sure enough, nervous 1st time father, tells me she's in labor right now. I was expecting them to come down for the Saturday potluck as they've come visiting the event before.

Got busy that night in the maternity ward with a number of babies making their arrival.
Fiona's little gem made her debut at 3:54 am PST and I was helping coach and assisted with delivery from 7:30 pm till arrival.
It's been a long day/night and I am home now trying to take a nap but neighbors all around, 3 sides are using power tools.

And Rob, it would take a lot more than the IRG wrapping up and delivering a baby to exhaust me!!! You folks continue to inspire me and lift me up even higher.

:beautiful: Joanie

So glad to find out it was for a happy reason! Congrats to the new parents. I spent this afternoon playing with my grand baby. I can't believe that it was a year ago that I was lucky enough to be at her birth. Babies are amazing!

You scared me too!! Almost shouted into the other room to tell Mom that something happened to Joanie...but thank goodness it was a happy event! I came home to some unhappy medical news from 2 people, so I am SO relieved that nothing is wrong with Joanie, and everything is right with little Xena and her proud parents!!
