last two days in VA hospital

Postby pete42 » Thu Aug 09, 2012 8:38 pm

Wednesday aug, 8 I woke up hurting in the right kidney area, so off to my local VA hospital
arrived 9:10 am 6 and a half hours and one kiddney stone later I left.
I had to return today Aug, 9th for more test 5 hours later after seeing the doctor doing lab testing and picking up my meds
I left hospital shy one very large kidney stone.
but all is well in the household now and I'm looking forward to this weekend.

Pete, I'm so glad you're OK.

I've watched both of my parents and my older sister with kidney stones....they sure are painful :x Mother said she would rather have had all 4 of us "kids" at the same time rather than have one kidney stone.

Take care.

Hope they found no more stones in there for you!!!
I passed a stone the night before Easter this year (it was the 3rd of a series), on a porta potty, in a side room tent, attached to my teardrop! The wind was blowing the tent so hard that it was leaning in. I thought I could dive through my tears door from the potty cuz I couldn't walk, but ended up racking my knee cap on the door frame, then bruised my shins up on the cabinets tossing around in the tear. Neither my GPS or my cell phone would work if I had needed them. CRAZY STUFF!!

Kidney stones in the boonies

Postby artfd » Thu Aug 09, 2012 9:44 pm

I've had kidney stones off & on since 1976. Once a stone started hurting me while I was hiking in Chaco Canyon NM, a long way from anywhere civilized. I had water & a cell phone with no coverage, and not so much as a Tylenol for the pain. I drank about a gallon of water as I drove back to Albuquerque where I bought some Tylenol and naproxyn, the combination of which relieved my pain quite well. Now I always travel with them. I don't go too far off the beaten track for this reason. I've only been hospitalized once for stones, all the other episodes they've passed without medical intervention. For many people, stones tend to happen more than once in their lives.

Awe Pete, sorry to hear you had to go through that. I've never had that happen to me, thank goodness, but I work with a couple of guys that had stones just recently and they suffered. I hope you are feeling better. Take care Pete. :)

Other than that how was the camping.......................isn't there always a smart A$$ :R

largest stone I've had so far was 10 MM that one they laser blasted; the blasting hurt like heck.
This time it was a little fellow 4 MM while waiting for the doctor I was able to passs the stone and I started feeling better right away
then the drugs kicked in as the IV dripped and all was right with the world good stuff those drugs.
thanks everyone for the kind words.
