New member, new trailer...couple questions

Postby E U G » Wed Aug 29, 2012 10:53 am

Just bought a new "tiny travel trailer" and going on my first trip this weekend. It's not as nice as some of the custom built ones I've seen on this forum over the past week of reading, but it's mine. :)

First question...How do I connect the hand pump sink tube to the water tank? The tank should be delivered tomorrow and I want to be prepared. I've searched the forum but maybe this is such an easy install there was never a need to start a thread for this. Do I just punch a hole or is there some sort of kit for a tighter fit?

Second question...I haven't camped since I married my wife 5 years ago. Im starting to pack the trailer for the weekend, any things that are often left at home accidentally? It's been so long...

I'll attach pics here in a minute...

Thanks!

When you get the water tank, it will be easier to understand how to connect the water line to it. It should have threaded holes for attaching the fittings. At least that is how mine was. You thread the male end of the fitting into the tank. The other end is usually tapered with "barbs". You just slip the plastic tubing over this end and secure with a clamp. My tank had a 1 1/8" fill tube plus 3 holes for the fittings. One of the fittings is for connecting to a line to the pump, another is for venting the tank and the 3rd hole I didn't use, but will some day put a fitting on it with a valve that I can use to drain the tank without having to use the pump to empty the tank. You will also want to orient the tank so the fill and vent fittings are at the top and the discharge fittings are at the bottom. Happy camping.

Thanks for the reply. So do I need to buy the fittings or do they need usually come with the tank? This is the one I bought:
http://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Products ... water+tank

It doesn't have a view of the top, but I do see something on the left that could be the fittings I suppose.

I ordered it while I was at work and now that I'm back home with the trailer, I think it's going to be too big. :(

Does anyone have this and know the dimensions?

Oh, and thanks for the compliments. It's a Backpacker from a local company here in Oregon called 3 Feathers. It's about 12 ft by 7 ft. The pic I posted is from their website:

Thanks!
