I'm old enought to remember seeing that on television.

I did own a VW Bug one of the "new" 40 horsepower 12 volt ones up 4 from mom and dad's 36 HP 6 volt one.

I had them install a Gas heater trouble was they still used the 6 volt motor and fan blew so fast it only blew cold air.
only after a resister was installed and the fan slowed did it work properly.

They sold those in our town, I believe back in the 70's. Did they stop building them because they were found to be unsafe?

I believe they were called by the name of "Shadow". There were two sizes, one, a single
axle, and the other, a tandem axle.

I have a brochure about them, at home, I picked up at a car show a while ago. Unfortunately our
computer seems to have died [need to get it checked out when we get home - we are
out of state for a while - 'am using a borrowed laptop at the moment] and I don't have it
with me which is moot since I can't scan it until I get my computer fixed or replaced anyway.

I thought they were quite innovative, but the concept must have been too 'different' for
widespread acceptance. The interiors were very "70s" from what I recall. I don't think they
were produced for very long - just my impression.

Cheers,

Plus the big boats that people were driving after that didn't really need anything that light weight.
