I have a flashlight in each room of the apartment.
Propane lantern and stove for power outages ready to go.
But alas, being a neighbor to Paine Field where the put together the Boeing 787, our power is never out for longer then half an hour.

Careful now...

All this (common sense) talk about being ready for something as earth shattering as a temporary power outage will have people calling you "preppers".

Rob
Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...

I use led lighting for power outages - I don't want the gas or fumes in my house.

I have an emergency flashlight plugged into the wall that acts like a night light when the power is on; but, when the power goes off, it senses it and turns bright enough to see all the way to walk to it. Then I just unplug it and it lights my way to whatever I need or want. ...No problems. :)

I do find it annoying as I have to get up to do this, maybe a remote is out there to help with the situation. :woohoo:

You need the Clapper.

my colemans are already in the house and I have flashlights at the back and front door and I have several "flickers through out the house. Living out in the country, my power can go off and it may be a while because of storms bring trees down, that bring down power lines. I learned that when we first moved in out here. The power went off 6 times in three months. Now it is not that often I have gone almost two years without the power going off woooo whoooo.
but Thanks Slow, sometimes we do forget.

I keep candles ready to go and a bottle of wine. The neighbors know to meet on my front porch when the power goes out. It has become a fun tradition.

I have an app on my phone called Tiny LED Flashlight. It turns on the flash for my camera, and is quite bright. I actually don't have a lantern. I should get one.

Unless one of those 787's does something unexpected. There is no such thing as a sure thing.....and you can be sure of that.

I'm more at risk being rundown by the Boeing workers when I'm crossing the crosswalk on my way to work.

I finally have all my night lights powered by a battery bank which is charged by an industrial float charger. I took a bunch of 12V LED light strings and have them lining critical areas like along the halls, and stairwell. I also have night light strips under the kitchen cabinets and a few other places. When the power goes out, they stay on. My usual power outage here is at least 2 hours. I'm about 50 to 60 minutes from the closest power company yard so it takes a bit of time for them to respond and get things fixed. I'm also near the end of the power line so there is lots of line that can have problems between me and the power plant. There is one property owner that I want to throttle. An absentee land owner refuses to let them cut back the trees along the power lines, so every wind, snow, or ice storm a tree or two along there goes down and takes out one of the lines and my power goes out.
