Camp Kirtchen

Postby Shadow Catcher » Sat Jan 26, 2013 4:44 pm

Seen today on Gizmag (some one here started me on it) the Grub Hub Camp Kitchen, and I tracked it down to http://www.grubhubusa.com. Yes it is more than tree times as expensive as the Coleman version, but it also appears to be much more compact and better made. Nancy commented she might have liked it when we were tent camping or could see it for those with a Little Guy with nothing more than the shelf.

Cool! But where would I put the microwave?

I really need to re-retire one of these days.

Sharon This is for those that are galley challenged ;)
I have seen more than a few of the Colman "kitchens" used and this one looked a bit better thought out and much more compact. The one BIG problem I see are very well trained critters. We found one year that the ground squirrels had learned to chew through the lids of Rubbermaid bins at Lake Superior Provincial Park, I think because it had enough of a sharp angle that they could put the bite on them. Short of using ballistic nylon or flavoring it with pepper it seems a bit vulnerable.

I have this one. I got it from Cabela's. The bag it comes in is about the size of a large skinny suitcase. I am guessing about 50 lbs as one person can carry it but my wife and i usually take one handle each. It can be set up in about 3 minutes or less. Not shown are 2 pantry storage areas that hang from under the bottom of the side tables. We have totes we use instead. Also not show, but we find very helpful is a sink area under the main table. We use two small basins instead of the sink. one to wash one to rinse. We use the water to put out the campfire. We also only use campsafe soap so in theory it could be put on the ground or nearby drain.

my wife loves it since when we camp I do all the cooking. 8)
