Hunter Structures Camper Spotted

Postby DMcCam » Fri Feb 22, 2013 12:18 am

Hi All, For months now I've been walking our new pup 'Bob' around the neighborhood ever so often passing be this boxy, cute little fiberglass trailer. It was in the front yard by the driveway but the chain link fence and gate were always closed with no cars visible. Not wanting to trespass I just kept strolling on by wondering what the heck it was. Finally last week as we passed by, the gate was open and a truck was parked out front! So being the bold adventurers Bob and I walked up and lightly tapped on the door. A very nice man came to the door holding a little dog. I explained about how I'm building a teardrop and that I couldn't help noticing his neat little trailer and wondered what it was. He graciously came out and gave me a tour.

This is his little Hunter Structures Camper.

I didn't have my camera with me that day darn it but Bob and I got to see the layout. You enter from the rear with a centered almost full size camper door. I didn't climb in but it looked like about 6' of space under the pop-up before it was deployed. The kitchen is in the rear on both sides of the door with the bed/table set up in the front. It has a heater, ice box, two burner stove and a water tank. He said these trailers were made in the late 60's to early 70's and came in a riot of colors. He didn't know what it weighs but said it was easy to tow.

It looks like a great little trailer for a small family or a couple who don't want to bend much. Doe's anyone have any information about these little guys they would like to share? I'd love to know more.

All the best,

Dave

I found one on CL about a year ago, but somebody had called before me and committed to buy it sight unseen. It was lime green and the owner said it weighed about 950 pounds.
