Mike, I think most people were asleep when you asked your original question. Answers may start coming in now that the sun is up.

A good gathering for me, has a camp ground that has trees for shade and some distance between sites. I do not want to hear the guy next to me snoring. Flush toilets and showers and a plus. Electric service is nice, but would not keep me from going. The area the camp ground is in is also important. Some interesting things to see or places to go is a plus. Add in some spots to go "junking" for cast iron and Coleman stuff and I am happy.

But none of this makes a good gathering without some fun and interesting campers. To date I have never run into any one at a gathering that I did not care for. It seems that people that go group camping are very social people that love the same things. Makes for a good time!

I would camp in Central Park if a few of my friends that pack were there for security!!! Don't want my trailer stolen. In New York City they could be rented out for 2 grand a month as a studio apartment!

 A little "snip" copying and a comment and Woodbutcher's answer fits my bill!
