Ajustable depth shower/loo curtain

My adjustable shower/loo curtain. I wanted to have my shower and loo stuff up in the corner by the door, but it is only about 18 inches deep there, so I came up with a way to adjust the size of my curtain enclosure.



I will only be using the area at night for a potty break, or in the morning for a shower, so I slide the curtain back out of the way the rest of the time.

Please excuse the micky mouse curtain rod hangers --string. This is not my final install! As you can see I don't have my ceiling in either.

I forgot to mention that all I did was to put the front curtain rings on to a bungee cord that stretches across the front. The cord slides easily back and forth, but is tight enough to stay in place.

As I was playing with this, I may change it more. I think I will go with one size larger pipe for the back 1/2 of the two sides. That way instead of using a bungee cord I could just slide the front half of the curtain rod holder out and then slide it back into the larger pipe to store. I would have to use a hook support in the front, but other than that it should work. It might give it a more finished appearance.

Okay, here is my fairly simple idea that I will be replacing this temporary arraignment with next year. I was going to wait to post this after I built it, but I thought that I would throw this idea out there for others to use or adapt, as it may be awhile before I get a chance to build this myself. I have enough other things to get done that this part will wait probably until winter to get finished.

Instead of using an adjustable shower curtain wall I am going to build an extremely lightweight full height bathroom "drawer" to slide in and out. The front of it will be a door/wall with two short sides and no back. Think of a drawer with no top, bottom, or backside. This will run in and out on drawer slides and maybe bottom wheels. Probably 4 drawer slides...two on the bottom and two close to the top.

Kind of a pocket door concept, but it is a 3 sided room/wall sliding. By doing it this way my bathroom/shower area will only take up half the space when not in use. When using it, it will be a simple pull out, open the door, and step in. By expanding the front it gives the area enough elbow room to be more useable.

For my use I will still be showering in a small non-permanent arrangement of shower curtains and tub. The loo will still be a Lugagable or a Porta Potty. It will just be hidden behind a more cabinet looking front. If others want a more permanent, plumbed in arrangement, I think a toilet and small sink could be done.

I hope this explains it clearly enough. I don't have any drawings or mockups to show. I am interested in knowing what others think of the concept, and if it will be useful to them.
