First time ever camping. No really!

Postby Dean in Ct. » Sun May 19, 2013 1:15 pm

Okay, not really, but there were only 2 previous attempts. Once in high school on the Appalachian trail 40 years ago and once at a phish concert with a girl I was very sweet on and I barely remember that. Both were tenting. Finally now I have done it intentionally and by choice with a Tear of my own construction! It was at a state park here in Ct. and the nearest neighbors were loud and obnoxious until nearly 4A.M., but I learned a whole lot. Can't wait to try it again!
Here's a few pictures. Nothing special, just a Tear in it's natural habitat.

Hope to meet some of you nice folks out there soon!

Congrats! Sorry about the idiots who kept you up. I found while there is an occasional inconsiderate person, a majority of campers are much nicer. By the way, great job on the Tear!

Congratulations!

Camping is fun!
Tents are okay, but staying in something you built, is special!

I just got back from a 10 day stay, and as always, the loud ones usually show up and stay the weekend, then the campground is quiet again.

Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...

Dean; what park were you at? We'll be at Rocky Neck June 26 to 30. Planning to go to the boat show again with our friend Wayne. You would like to meet him, he built a fantastic wood strip teardrop several years ago but has since sold it, and has restored a few vintage campers since. Couple years ago we had the same obnoxious neighbor problem at Rocky Neck, I think they got kicked out the next day. Heard of others getting kicked out of there too. Problem is the rangers are too lazy to walk around, so they ride through in a car and the a**hole people can see them coming so they quiet down until the ranger is gone. Not like this where we go in the Adirondaks, those rangers use a golf cart and walk, and at 10PM you better be quiet.

Beautiful looking site and teardrop. As for the morons, I am glad that they are rare. As they are usually hung-over in the morning, I tend to have to get more items than usual out of the truck when making breakfast.

When I was a kid, we were camping up in Wisconsin and there was a group of loudmouths partying one night. One guy kept yelling, " I'm from Illinois" at the top of his lungs. My father got up and took the license plate off the back of the car so we wouldn't be associated.

One of the reasons we have a stereo and good insulation is noisy neighbors :x
