Construction update/Almost there

Postby ALAN GEDDES » Tue Jul 27, 2004 8:49 pm

:D Catching up on tear after two months unable to work. Everything assembled except galley and hatch; homemade frame with 15" tires built and wired with temporary lights ( ordering 3 ea model A lights this weekend), already inspected and will title and tag on Monday. To do this week: install doors, hatch and get some primer sealer on it until my aluminum arrives. Install hitch on the wifes 97 T Bird because I have to tear the VW engine down. I may take it out of town Tue and Wed to Greensboro NC to show some folks there. Alan

Alan, what type of VW do you have? I have a 1970 VW convertible in pretty nice shape.
It worked until I fixed it!!!

Ross, No pictures as I have only 18 inches on each side and about 24 inches front and rear in my little shop. I will get some when I roll it out next week. RC, I have a 69 with 107K original miles. Belonged to an 85 year old lady who bought it new. Blew oil cooler seal I think yesterday. Will have it fixed next week. All my time is allocated to tear right now. Alan

Chip, I will make my reservation as soon as Uncle Sam deposits that Army retirement check this weekend. Does anyone have any idea what the temperatures are up there at that time of the year ? Alan

:D Got site 34 for Pisga in Oct. Filling up fast. Should be outside and legal on Monday. No aluminum yet just a couple of coats of primer sealer and interior not finished yet, but it will be useable. Got the wifes car ready to tow with (wonder when she will notice new Reese hitch?) Alan

Took time out to make my 10' x 10' easy up shelter fit in galley. Took 2.25 inches off legs so it would lay flat just inside on floor. First thing off and up and easy access. Won't affect set up height at all. I didn't like the idea of having to carry it inside sleeping area. If the weather cooperates Tear should be usaeable but not finished tommorow. :D Alan
