seems like when designing a wardrobe in such a small trailer something like a Steamer Trunk attached to the wall might be just the thing.

Steamer trunks are actually quite large.

Also, they were quite heavy; although, with today's technology, you could get that weight down considerably. My mom actually used one in the 1920's. (She graduated from high school and got married in 1924.) She still had a couple steamer trunks when I was growing up. To give you an idea of how large they are, people now restore them and make coffee tables out of them. As for coffee table height? You don't need to add legs.

It is a thought.... However, given your abilities and talents, you could take that thought and come up with something that would work a lot better.

You could just build a closet inside. I am planning my Big Trip and have to take a little more clothes than for a weekend camping trip so I plan to make a closet of sorts to hang a few things to avoid wrinkles and to make shelves for my other clothes. out 6 of different things I will be able to make 25 different outfits with accessories. Everything will be light weight material and I will be taking 2 pair of blue jeans, 5 T shirts and 2 pair of blue jean shorts. that will be my clothes for 8 to 10 Weeks. Boots, a pair of tennis shoes and one pair of sandals which can be worn in the shower or will look nice for church or dinner "Crocks", They make some really nice ones. I am planning enough room inside so I can handle all my clothes. I have a Poncho type jacket that will double for a jacket in the morning or cool evenings or an extra topper cover if it gets cold at night. I don't anticipate really cold but I am prepared for it with a down cover which can be a jacket/shawl. I am planning to really have little cubbie holes and places to put my stuff.

My Great grandmother had a steamer trunk which she came to this country with. They were great on board ship where there were no closets in the economy rooms and people were more intent on keeping wrinkles out of their clothes. not like today.Also they were bringing all of their wordly goods and clothes. Some ships back then only allowed one piece of luggage in your room and 8 to 10 days traveling was a little more difficult and there were no washer and driers on board ship and it was also important to keep up with your stuff and one bag was a lot easier.

I don't think i could handle the weight. They must have been very heavy.

We bought one at an antique auction some years back for my grandson. He was just a little guy, but he thought it looked like a pirate's chest and just had to have it. Restored it was quite beautiful but it was extremely heavy. It was actually about the size of a large cedar chest. Two of us would carry it together (empty).

well I brought it up because they seem well thought out and organized.... just what one wants in a small trailer and staying in a room of your design.

We all talk about galleys but I have heard little about how they pack and store personals like clothing, under stuff, hats, rain gear, and other things one would pack in their car.

What I use is ebag packing cubes: http://www.amazon.com/eBags-Packing-Cub ... B005LXPSHG, I already had them for packing for business trips (they are meant to pack really well in a normal suitcases). So I reuse them for camping; those, and a mesh laundry bag for the 'need to launder' stuff.

It's hard to get a feel (from the pictures) how much each size bag holds. For me, the small = several socks/underwear (a weeks worth when traveling), the Medium = 2-3 shirts, depending how bulky they are. The large is 2 pair of jeans, or 1 pair of jeans and 2 shorts. Again, that's for me. everyone's clothing is obviously going to be different thickness or sizes; but that should give you a feel for how many and what sizes might work for you if you are going to order some. Of course, if you are going for a vintage look for everything, those bright colors might not give the right ambiance when showing off.

A good cabin trunk was a hanging wardrobe stood on end with drawers and often a writing desk. Weight was not a problem, there were porters and stewards who did things for you. A scaled down version could be useful, fill it in the house then wheel it out with a sack truck and fix it in the van.
