I'm in the process of designing/estimating out my first build. I had the idea to use Formica or an Ikea counter top. I couldn't find the data point anywhere, how thick is is? Are all four edges finished - really I just care about the cabin edge and the rear facing hatch edge. Thanks!

Formica comes in two thicknesses. One is for countertops and one is for vertical installation. It is measured in mm... very thin! You apply it to a wooden countertop base. I don't really know installation details since I am not building myself... I have hired the guys at TeardropsNW to build it for me. All I did was pick out the Formica I liked. There are so many nice patterns..... I chose the charcoal boomerang for a more retro feel.
