Got a New Tool

I'm not sure how useful it will be for building teardrops but it should take a tree or two down.

You won't be disappointed with a Stihl. I've had 039 saw for nearly 30 years and it is still going strong. I recently replaced the coil and flywheel and was even able to get the parts off of EBay for less than half of "retail". I also bought some spare parts to keep on hand as some things (the drive sprocket for one) are beginning so show some wear.

Good choice.

Cheers,

Gus

Do you pronounce it:

Steel
Still

I pronounce mine:

Husky

Truth be told I do have a Steel 066 ;)

Be sure to run the best gas you can find and don't keep mixed gas for more than a few weeks. When it gets old dump it in your car when the tank is low and then fill up.

Nice saw Bruce...but it looks like you got the bar cover that's made for the southern hemisphere. I always liked my Stihl. Doug

Pronounced "schteel".

Not good at teardrop construction, but great at teardrop de-construction.

Don't carry one while wearing a hockey mask--people get freaked out. Ask me how I know . . .
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Thanks all, I get to try it out today on our property. We've got some beetle kill we need to take down before the beetles fly.

I got this new tool yesterday. It is a variable speed, wet grinder for concrete. I am remodeling our kitchen and it's time for counter tops. I'm doing them in concrete. I made the first, preliminary cut today on the first counter. So far. so good. There are about eight grades of pads, from 50 grit to 2000 grit. I should have this one all polished out by tomorrow. Pics to follow on my internationally renowned blog ;)

Well we made plenty of sawdust, this thing throws off a rooster tale of chips. We took down 7 trees without a problem. What a great saw!

check out the size of the shavings.

When it comes time to sharpen the chain you should have one of the Pferd Chain sharpeners in your tool kit. I've been using them for years [I'm an arborist] and they work better than any other sharpener.

This is the new one. It works well but I haven't bought one.

This is what I've used for years:

Pferd files are high quality too.

I think I hit a nail on the last tree and I do need to sharpen the chain. Stihl says its a 3/8" chain, which sharpener would I get?
Thanks,
