How to apply Flowcoat?

I was talking to a fella who sells fiberglass and all the resins and equipment, about Flowcoat. He said that he knows of a bloke who applied Flowcoat to his boat (I think is was a boat) by thinning the Flowcoat with acetone and spraying it on with a regular spray gun. He said the results the fella achieved were astonishing. The colour was perfect and there was no loss of performance of the Flowcoat. Has anyone tried to apply Flowcoat using this method? How much resin was mixed with the catylist and how long was it before the spray gun was cleaned out. If the resin begins to gel in the spray gun, the gun becomes an instant ornament. I know it all sounds completely backwards and not the thing to do but it seems to work with great results. What's the go here?
I will try and get more info as well and track down the bloke that is doing it.
