Rain diverter - Galley hatch

Postby beverlyt » Sun Apr 18, 2004 5:41 am

A little help please?
Since we've built our trailer on somewhat of a "learn-as-you-go", we cut our galley hatch hinge to fit the trailer...when we should have left it a bit long.
And...if we were to give our hatch a good nudge from the side of the galley hinge, the entire thing would likely easily slide right out of it's hinge.
How do we make the rain diverter? I'm guessing that will put a stop to the hinge movement also!
Thanks!
Bev

Pic's might help her Bev.

I'm not quite sure what you are talking about. You could just buy another hindge if your talking about the sides being too short.

Now I see what your talking about Bev. Looks like your going to have a hole between the hatch and the rest of the tear after your done. You did cut the thing too short. Maybe some one else can help I don't have any ideas about that other than replace the thing at this time.

Bev,

Though I agree that you will want to get a new hinge in the long run, perhaps there is a short term fix.

Check out these photos I took of the galley hinge on a new Camp-Inn at Dillon Beach in October. Perhaps something similar would work for you? Not sure what the material is.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks for the great tips and pics. I'd hate to have spent all that time on the galley and find out the hatch leaks! Yikes!

You'll just have to take a portable garage with you, and park your teardrop in the garage!

Bev,

If you are going to leave it in the gargage and put up a pop tent over the tear then you should not have a problem with it leaking except for hauling it to the location. Use duct tape to get there.

Looks great by the way. Enjoy.

Hey Jerry,

Nice shot of your teardrop in front of the mountains. Do you have any more shots you can share with us? How about an inside shot and/or a galley shot?

Yes you can Jerry. And thinks for sending me the disk before all the pic's were posted. I've enjoyed looking at them and will use them as I start my next tear later this summer.
