Winter Blues

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Winter Blues

Postby Vedette » Sat Nov 23, 2013 11:02 pm

Well here I sit bored to tears, wishing I was around a campfire drinking wine and visiting with other Teardrop campers.
Finished the final farm chores today.
It has been below zero here for the past few days and I really miss summer and camping!
The Forum has been slow .....and I need some motivation or another Teardrop project to keep my mind occupied??
Looking for some cheering up! :?

Sandi has had enough camping for one year!

You could build a car, help design my next TD, I could suggest lots of things. but you just cant run around outside when it is so cold. being bored is the pits. Hope it gets better!!!

Hey Brian,

Winter has only just begun ! Get one of those lamps they
recommend for the S.A.D. syndrome and sit under it each day a while...

Since you're such a fine metal worker, maybe you could unintentionally
start a new part-time retirement business/past-time and do other
car body based TDs. Think what an early 1950s bathtub Nash or Packard
body could be as a base, or a 2door Studebaker Lark wagon. Why keep
Miss Piggy an orphan ??? I should think there'd have to be at least a
nichette in the old car market for such things - especially as it'd be a
rolling art piece that could be taken along to the various car shows/meets
by their new owners.

There is no deadline, so designing such could keep you occupied for awhile,
even if you'd only go as far as just designing them - that can be enough fun
just in itself.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Thanks Norm
But keeping busy during the day while I have energy is no problem.
I currently have 2 trucks and 2 cars on the go right now with another car waiting.
I also have a few cars of my own I would like to be working on.
It is the time off while I am tired that bores me.
As for another Teardrop? It is already in my head and the body is in my barn!
It will make even a cooler TD than Miss Piggy.
As for marketing car based TD's.....lots of people have suggested that already. But, nobody has stepped up with a cheque book.
The cost to build one is way beyond what the market will bare.
But thanks for trying to help.

And now for something completely different: build a balsa and tissue rubber band powered free flight model plane!

http://www.guillow.com/DHC-2Beaver.aspx

They are inexpensive, require virtually no special tools to make (a cut down acoustic ceiling tile for a work board, some pins from the wife's sewing kit, and some razor blades or a hobby knife). You can build at your own pace.

The peanut scale ones are especially fun.

Brian,
I just thought I would let you know it is a beautiful clear warm morning down under in my part of Oz.
I am sitting here in shorts and tee shirt having my first coffee for the day watching the bay sparkle in the early morning sun.
That would have to make you feel good just thinking about it.
Take it easy.

 Design and build another camp trailer and then sell it?
I doubt you'd have any trouble finding a buyer.
(It wouldn't have to be like Miss Piggy...maybe something simpler?)

I say go to the barn and spend some time just sitting there and visualize "that" future teardrop!! (I say this being I've seen what's there!!! and I agree, as NICE as Miss Piggy is, I think this will make a GREAT Teardrop!!!!!!) I can still see in my mind a tongue box formed in replacing the original front end - maybe a shorted PT Cruiser hood used as a lid thus forming the tongue box shape down to the frame. Than maybe setting up the teardrop inside so you can access from the inside into the tongue box for extra space, storage or what ever. Just thought I toss a few out there to help get the winter juices flowing!! T.Hoefer PS when you say the temp is around 0, are you talking Canadian '0' or USA '0' ???? I'll take your Canadian '0' over USA '0' any day (we don't get to much USA 0 around here, Canadian 0 is pretty much the winter norm.) take care

You are right ........ if I didn't have soooo many other irons in the fire.
And if I wasn't so tired by 4:00 pm everyday.
I would be on that other TD project.
But wait until the Dam Gathering.

I am hoping for a bit of snow down here in MN so I can get out and do a night or two of camping. Just sitting around a campfire all toasty warm heating up some apple cider then snuggling down in the tear for a good nights sleep. Usually have the campground to myself.
If I can't get out to a campground I will start a fire in the backyard and pretend.
Gotta fight that winter boredom
