Actually these look pretty nice, BUT.... I don't see how this can weigh the claimed 550#. From their site:"The dry weight is only 550 pounds"
"If its worth doing it's worth doing Light"

Just went out and measured it, about 56" wide, 143" long from tongue to bumper, cabin is 56" high inside with double size bed. Can sit comfy with bed in sofa mode with plenty headroom, can even stand up well enough to dress etc. Outside is about 76" from ground to roof edge, fantastic fan would sit up a bit above that. Weight empty without battery etc is 550 - 600 lb range, less than a 5x8 Silver Shadow. The wall mounted shelf is removable and can mount on a post in front of the sofa or outside next to the door under the awning.

I have the manual tranny and I was 9.4 L/100k on the trip home, mostly 120k/ hr but caught up in a long stretch of stop and go. Winter driving conditions and Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires impact. I'm a lead foot but the trailer is no wider than the tow vehicle, tucked in behind it tows great!!! Crosstrek is rated to tow 1000 lb unbraked and 1500 lb braked in NA so this is comfortably within the spec.

Looks like you had a nice soft landing.

Looks real nice.

Good to have another Prolite Suite in the mix.

Thanks Heinz!!! I will be picking your brain as time goes on, already want to do 2 or your mods
...barrel bolts for the sofa back,
and hinges & velcro on the shelf to tuck the supports out of the way
when mounted in table mode. Ian was using the levelers to lift the weight completely off
the suspension when stored, says this is fine as the trailer is light. I have a just a bit of weight
on the levelers...any opinion?
ps - removed the battery today, did a full charge and stored it inside for the winter. Also ran an extention cord
to the trailer from the house so I can "camp out" using a small electric heater if I get the urge...lol!

I use the 'levelers' strictly as tip preventers. While they look pretty sturdy and the trailer is light I don't know if using them as a jack is a good idea. I plan to pack a couple of 2x6x6 blocks for actual levelling if needed. Have been able to do without last trip as simply turning the trailer some and using the front screw-jack levels nicely.

If anything, use them as a momentary jack while putting proper supports under the frame if you want the weight off during the winter.
I don't have any plans to do so as I keep being optimistic about a trip or 2 to the desert early in the year.

Please check out my Emergency Window mod. I assume yours is same. An easy 6-700 bucks if someone is too overzealous opening it from outside while you have it in the notch for ventilation.

Edit: Just thought I'd mention.... the reference re stabilizer usage is strictly personal.

Forgot to mention... be sure you do an overnight or 2 before heading out for real. I found that I needed a bit of extra foam on the bed.

AC mod idea...

Postby Crabapple » Wed Dec 04, 2013 10:09 am

Heinz, I like the climate right portable AC, you can take it with you or leave at home depending on circumstances, and the new ones coming out will do AC and heat...
http://www.climaterightair.com/cr-5000-ac
http://www.climaterightair.com/rv-trail ... nd-heating

But rather than cut holes into the trailer for inlet and outlet I would put those on a plywood panel that fits the profile of the outside hatch for access to the under bed storage. Just insert the panel in place when needed and connect the two hoses. One could leave the interior storage access door open to facilitate flow of cool or heat throughout the trailer. The unit itself could sit under the trailer on a little platform to keep it out of the rain, or under the awning.

Any reason why this wouldn't work well?

That should fit very well.
Been thinking along those lines myself if I ever get to hot weather for any length of time. The few days I've had in "heat", ventilation between screen door and roof vent was not too bad.

I was planning to try and get another door rather than chop up existing. I like being able to go back to original :)
When you plan your under trailer storage make sure you raise it off the ground a bit. Last outing we had a river of hail and slush in nothing flat during a sudden thunderstorm.

For heat I got the little 200 watt electric as in an emergency I can run that via Inverter to take the chill off.

Sleep out??

Postby Crabapple » Fri Dec 06, 2013 11:05 pm

So I bought my little camper last weekend and towed it home. Have it parked in my yard and would love to do an overnight in it this weekend where she sits, with shore power and a small fan forced electric heater. I have read enough to know to crack a window or two open but I suspect there will be some condensation inside at least on the windows. My concern that once it gets dampness inside it won't dry out properly until spring and get musty etc. if it gets into the insulated walls. Don't know if the inside finish is also a vapour barrier to keep condensation out of the walls. Should I avoid using it until spring? Right now night temps are about -10 C or 15F
