Wiley windows info in using

Postby Kody » Wed Jan 22, 2014 1:23 am

Hi all,
I am now at the stage where I need to be thinking more about adding the windows to the walls. The walls are 1" thick with framework throughout obviously. I am leaning (very hard) on fitting Wiley Windows that would be situated near the end of the bed where our feet will be. The bottom of the windows will be 17" above the bed (a Queen size) and 7" from the bulkhead/partition at the far end. The windows will be about 20" long x 12 1/2" high.
Problem. The 2nd in command is not happy with the shape of these windows and considers them to be very obtrusive making it difficult to get dressed and being able to get to the storage area. What do you guys think about the practicality of these windows? Do they get in the way when you are moving from one end to the other? What problems have you had with them? Would you make them any different to what you have now. And the big question, does your spouse like them and likes to use them?

my wife expected the wiley window to intrude into her space so I gave her an RV window and only made the wiley for my side. after our last trip she discovered the window takes up so little space it isn't an issue. she also couldn't take advantage of the air flow from a completely open window the way I could. Now she will let me put one on her side as well. I can't see how the wiley window will intrude into your space at all mounted down by your feet unless you have some other design than a tear and even then I don't see it.
Mine is mounted on my door with the outside skin of the door being the window mounting face, I never felt the window interfered with getting in or out, or any play time inside the tear. the widest part of the window is up high keeping it out of the area I need to sleep or sit. My side tents keep the door from opening past 90 degrees easily and the window wasn't a problem getting dressed with the door open either.
Just make sure your glass can come out without hitting the roof, an inch higher on my window frame and I would have to open the door to remove it.
