Dry Flush Toilet Video Review

Postby wincrasher » Sat Feb 08, 2014 5:24 pm

My Dry Flush Toilet came in. I made an unboxing and review video and put it on my youtube channel.

You can see it here:

Hope you like it. I'm impressed with the device, seems really sturdy. Yes, it is much more expensive than crapping in a bucket as some of you advocate.

For those with the bread for something like this, I can tell you it seems like a quality device and works as advertised.

What is the bag replacemnt cost "per flush"?

I found a dealer on-line selling a 3 pack of refills for $55. That would be about 45 flushes, so the cost is $1.23 per flush.

I like the idea of this type of portable toilet but unless it catches on and becomes popular, I'm afraid the manufacturer will go out of business, leaving anyone who buys one of these units out of luck. Right now about all I can find on the internet are videos and reviews. It took me a lot of searching to find a dealer selling them. The original poster mentioned Little Guy, but I couldn't find them on their website. The only place I found them for sale ($455) was a marine dealer's website.

Kinda steep, but put into perspective maybe not.

Nice dinner out costs $30-$50
Camping isn't cheap either... $20-$30 for a spot, then $10-? for dinner fixings, plus labor.

Look on Little Guys store - www.golittleguy.com

You get 15-17 flushes per cartridge. So yes, it's kinda pricey. But having not much to clean and convenience has a cost.

What surprised me was that the height and seat is just like a toilet in your house. Feels real solid and you are not squatting down on a tiny porta-potty.

My planned use is for during the night on my camp-outs and for day trips on my boat. I should be able to get 2 or 3 weekends per cartridge - so that's not too costly.

Win,

Not trying to put you, or your choice down, just talking out loud.

Everyone should be happy and comfortable when camping...it isn't like we have to be there.!
My camper is a little over the top, but it is because I choose to camp in my level of comfort...

I must've missed something on the video; is this system so odor proof you'd want to leave it sitting there with crap in it for weeks? Not I. I'd want to put vaporub on my upper lip.

that's why this one is different - the metal foil bag makes it be odor free for a long time. I'll let you all know how it works out.

I'm not sure about this, but somehow I got the impression that the bag could be cut and you could remove the used sections. You'd have to be able to twist and tie the cut end of the bag so it doesn't leak (if that's possible).

I don't think that would work. The whole thing twists from the bottom - the whole assembly sits in a square key in the base - so if you cut it, I'm not sure how the rest would twist. It's surprisingly simple from a mechanical aspect.

If you'd be worried about smells, you could always dump some deodorizer, or kitty litter, or something in there (with your poos), but I don't think it's necessary.

If building a smaller RV could go with out a black water system and make dumping your holding tanks a whole lot nicer when it would just be gray water. Shoot, where I live I would just dump the gray on my lawn or trees. I would imagine that the cost of one of these would be less than a water toilet and black water system. Of course people that buy large RVs would not like it. They want to feel at home. I say let them.

On my class B the black water valve needs replacement. I was quoted between $200-250.00 for labor and materials. At that price, I am half way to buying the dry flush and no more dumping black water. :D

Larry
PS.
Of course I am so cheap, I will be replacing the black water valve myself, though it looks like a pain on this rv.

Similar to a product that holds scooped kitty litter. The twist seals it. Then the next sealed batch sits on top. Then the next.

Update- been using this a bit. Works great! I will admit at first having some anxiety of it not flushing with a full load, but that has past. So far, no issues, and more importantly, no smells!
