Planning Stages

Postby HMK » Thu Apr 03, 2014 10:58 pm

Wife and I are trying to figure which way would benefit us the most. We have a 29ft RV, but for the two of us, it's a bit of over kill and it's really a lot of trouble just to camp. We tent camp mostly these days. There certain things we need/want.

1. We both use CPAP & need a small shelf on each side of the bed.
2. We need a spot for a potty.
3. Wife doesn't want to feel claustrophobic, so a 4x8 is out; however, she does fine in a 9x12 tent.
4. We have 2 dogs that go where we go. One sleeps with us and the other sleeps beside our bed.
5. We really don't need a galley. I set up 2 tables to work off of and cook in my CI skillet, DO and on the grill.
6. We are in Texas, so a small Ac would be nice.
7. We stay in state parks, so we don't need a shower.
8. We have a pickup to tow with, so it doesn't have to be tiny.

What would be realistically doable as for as width? I'd like something that would give me the same area as our 9 x 12 tent.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like a small, lightweight standy would be the most practical style of camper.

Like Rob said, a small standy TTT sounds like it would fit the bill for your needs.

Under "Design Resource" at the top of the page, select "Design Library" and check out a few of the designs. The Widget is one of my favorites.

On this forum, there a few other wonderful builds worth investigating:

BTW, it's good to see another Texan on board. What part of the great state are y'all located?

Take care,
Tom

Welcome, good luck with your build, I agree with Rob, I've seen so many nice, small Standie trailers on this forum, there is a lot to choose from.

Take a look at Sharons, seen this one in person and it may be something your looking for.
