Instructional Video Teaching step-by-step Teardrop building

Postby bennelson » Mon Apr 07, 2014 1:14 pm

Hi Folks?

Does anyone know of an instructional video that teaches step-by-step how to build a teardrop?

I know of plenty of YouTube videos of folks just showing off their finished teardrop, and there are plenty of somebody showing how to do ONE thing on building a teardrop. I'm looking for a video that is COMPREHENSIVE in building a teardrop, start to finish. Does anyone know of one?

Here's one reason why I'm asking. If there isn't a video out there like that, I'd like to make one. By trade, I'm a video producer, and for hobby, I've built my own teardrop, electric motorcycle, and electric car. When I built my electric car, there were NO good instructional videos out there for how to how to build one. So, when I was finished, I MADE the instructional video that I wished I would have had before starting the project. I also later made one on electric motorcycle design and construction.

It's been quite a few years since I built my basic "Cubby" teardrop, but I have a cabinet-maker friend who plans to start building a teardrop soon. If he and I both build a pair of teardrops together, with his woodworking skills, my video skills, and TWO teardrops to film, there's no reason why we could create a truly comprehensive construction video that would walk anyone through the process of building a teardrop they can be proud of!

What do you think? Do you know of any similar videos? If one existed, what would you want to see on it? Other thoughts?

Having a good set of plans is a great start, but there's nothing quite like somebody SHOWING you how to do something!
Thanks,

Both of these are great and if you go ahead and buy Steve's shop manual, are comprehensive.

I've been following Scott's workshop as well and it is outstanding!

If I was going to build my TD again, painted and not aluminium skinned. I would use this step by step process.
There are a few videos in there too.
