There was other stuff going on, like a Jeep and a Ford Fiesta that got crushed by trees. And power... we had no power until late Sunday afternoon. We lost power again on Monday, but it was back on when we got home from work. Lapeer road is still down to one lane northbound, because they have to replace the utility poles. It takes an extra 41 minutes to get home because traffic is slow.
We are okay though! We kept the fridge and freezer closed until we got electric back on. We didn't have cable (internet) back until later Monday night. We learned the best lantern to have was the 3 cell rayovac Sportsman LED. It has a 90 hour battery life in low mode. We picked up another one Sunday morning just to have it on hand!
http://www.amazon.com/Rayovac-Sportsman ... B0018S4XISI yelled at Chell cause she didn't go to the basement when I yelled at her to do so. I think she'll pay more attention next time.
Chell wanted to buy a generator, and I said no, I don't like the ones at home depot. I'd rather have the Honda 2000. But the reality is that we are on the main trunkline for Lake Orion. The main trunkline has the highest priority. The rest of the village is on secondary trunk lines. In fact the rest of the village is still without power. They are expecting to get power on either late tonight or tomorrow sometime. They are running the traffic lights with emergency generators to keep the traffic moving.
And then this morning we got a couple inches of snow, and the temps dropped down into the 20's. Crazy spring weather, eh?
Mike...
P.S. Our insurance agent says there are already 750 claims filed with State Farm, and the village has been declared a disaster zone.
