First Trip Of the Season

Postby Dirtyfootcamper » Wed Apr 16, 2014 1:11 am

My Fiancé and I took the trailer out, over the weekend, for the first time this year. We brought along our 9 m/o Boston Terrier, Gerti, for her first camping trip ever to our favorite spot off of Lake Shoecraft. It was 67 degrees on Saturday and 70 on Sunday. All three of us had a great time. We just need to get used to cracking the vent and windows a bit more than usual with an extra body breathing all night long we woke up to some condensation on the sidewalls and roof. Nothing a microfiber cloth couldn't take care of with a few wipes.

Looks like a great spot! Beginning to think that all the best places are by lakes.

Did you get by on just the one water bottle? I struggle with water conversation - could not make it thru the weekend on my 12 gallon tank.

My Boston Terrier loves camping! You just have to watch them as they go after every squirrel or bird they see. Also the sandy feet. But they love to curl up at the foot of the bed.

Thanks Brian & Sandi,

I too hope to run into you guys, and Greg, somewhere down the road. I don't think I'll be able to make it to any gatherings this year but there is always next year!!

I live in western Washington, Currently reside in Everett but will hopefully be moving back to Arlington sometime next year. The Pictures were taken in Arlington at Lake Showcraft, at my Grandpas small piece of property that My Father, Uncle and Grandparents used to camp at when they were younger. The used to stay in that broken down cabin/shed and the dock and boat house has long been gone. Hopefully the state/county will let us rebuild them.

Good Roads,

Thanks Slow!

We live in Western Washington, It was the first nice weekend we've had so far this year, and it has been grey skies and rain since. Hope we can get out and do some more camping soon! I'm buying my brothers old 12 ft aluminum boat and can't wait to take it out and do some trout fishing! a fresh caught trout on the barbecue sounds like the perfect way to end a day! I too have been doing some upgrades on the trailer to make it more suitable for my Fiancé and I, as well as our pup. Hope all's well Slow.

Thanks Wincrasher!!

We too love camping by the water, weather it be a river or a lake.

By the time we left sunday we were down to a gallon and a half left of the 6 gal container. We did have a few sodas in the cooler. I think if we go for a longer trip or in hotter temps, we will have the 6gal container plus a few more jugs of water, maybe even a flat of water bottles. I've toyed with the idea of putting a fresh water tank under the trailer but haven't decided yet.

I've also been looking into getting a bigger and better cooler than the coleman one we have. One for drinks and the other for food, ice, and perishables. Im leaning towards the Yetti or a Canyon Cooler.

And yeah our Boston Terrier had a blast!! She was definitely interested in the Ducks and Geese that were in the water but she didn't dare chase or bark at them. The Funny thing is though, Sunday morning two large Deer crossed the property and she ran and barked at them. I Yelled for her and she turned around. I'm sure a Deer would do a lot more damage than a squirrel or a duck. haha

Good Roads,
Bryce

I have the Penguin 43 qt and love it. Just as good as the Yeti, has a better latch system and is a bit cheaper to boot. Check Amazon for pricing.
