Back at it again

Postby NathanL » Tue May 13, 2014 6:47 pm

Haven't ever posted a bunch on here but I'm back at teardrop again. Stopped early last year when I got a new job that required 900 hours of work per week or close to it.

Now I'm in the mood trying to figure out where I stopped and why. I spent all day making list and poking around. I've got lots of free time having lost my job because I couldn't get a written diagnoses of everyones guess of what was wrong with me after 5 months. The good news is among other things I was diagnosed with including massive reoccuring strokes, MS etc...it turned out to be a disease common in children and will recover 100%. The bad news is having sat on my rear end for 5 months things go very slow lol.

Some people call it procastinating, I call it getting organized. I've been doing a lot of organizing ahead of any real work.

Hope to have some pictures up of real work soon.

I'm going to spend a lot of time on here soon becuase I might try and simplify a few things. It's 5' x 9'6 basically a benroy and the walls are done, the roof is on, the hatch is made but not hinged etc...on a harbor freight trailer. I might try and simplify to make a decent length trip this late summer and take it slow on finishing. In the past my trailers (I've built a few) were used as base camps while treking out west and backpacking to have a nice place to get out of the weather after 3-5 days and a more comfortable bed. That's probabl a thing of the past at least for a while, so trying to simplify and repurpose.

Nathan,

Glad to see you're back at building again. I'm even more happy to see that you've but medical issues behind you.

Look forward to some pictures. :pictures:

Take care,
Tom

Did a little today. Trying to decide if it's worth going to a living hinge for the hatch that I have already or keeping the hurricane hinge I made it for but still haven't used. Probably comes out about the same.

I have a cutout for my door that is just barely over 26" x 36" which is the common size for the large door. I had originally planned to make a door but I'm thinking now of ordering a premade to save the hassle of hinging and tramming it out etc....Now I have to revisit all my decisions that I made in the design of the trailer. That pesky brain again.

Yeah I'm pretty glad the official diagnoses of "massive brain damage" "you'll be a vegetable in less than 6 months" etc....turned out to be a misdiagnoses. Funny now, not so much at the time.

Hi Nathan and welcome back. Working on my TD makes me feel good and gives me goals. Meet nice people, end up with a rig as nice as Tom and Linda's, and be just a little faster then Slow Cowboy.http://tnttt.com/posting.php?mode=reply&f=2&t=59799#
The ideas, laughs, tips and techniques I get from this forum provides a lot of motivation and is much appreciated.
Enjoy, Chris
