A convertible camper - it could be a truck camper, or it could be a tiny travel trailer. I've seen them trailered and trucked, but I'm using the trailer just to roll the Alaskan slide in truck camper in the garage. Yep, another project, but this one doesn't need a lot of work.
Lowered down, they're 58 inches tall (plus your trailer). Raised up, they're 6 feet 4 inches tall inside. The 8 foot NCO (non-cab over) weighs in at 1500 pounds. They make them in cab-overs and at 8,10 & 12 feet long. That isn't me - never been to Alaska
On the bottom side that was covered by the bed. Will you have to do more to protect it?
TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET AT THE SAME TIME, THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE,,, SO MAKE THE BEST OF IT WHILE YOU CAN, AND ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS
The part that slides into the truck bed is wrapped in aluminum, and I haven't removed it yet, but it has a few tears in it. I'll probably replace some of that and I'm pretty sure that the plywood body under that aluminum is fine. The floor of the camper is plywood on stringers and it's in good shape. I'm looking forward to going camping with the Alaskan in the truck and the teardrop in tow. More room for two.
