Maxxair Roof Vent Cover

Postby Dirtyfootcamper » Thu Sep 11, 2014 12:19 am

Does anybody have any experience using the Maxxair or Maxxair II vent covers on a teardrop? I like the idea of being able to have the roof vent open, in all types of weather, and think these would work great. My only concerns are that they seem like the would take away from the "low profile" that most teardrops have and are they sturdy enough to hold up to the elements?

Here is the link to both vent covers I have questions about

I have the Camco Aero Flo vent cover and love it. On my recent 30 day camping trip, I rarely had to put the Paha Canopy up just so I could use the Fantastic Fan at night.t

I LOVE mine and do not know why we don't see more teardrops with them!!!!! you can leave your vent open when it is raining - when driving down the road at hiway speeds!! - when storing your trailer, I just plane leave it open all of the time!!!!! they work GREAT!!!!! Very easy to install, just 4 screws and easy to remove for cleaning, just 4 nuts!!!! I am not computer savvy for putting pictures here on the web but if you go to The Flirty Girl's blog, www.ifoundtheplace.com and look and read her article from 18Aug14 there are pictures of her and my trailer in her article about the IRG ("Attending the IRG.....") get together the first July that we were at in northern California this year. I popped mine off when there and we set it on top of her trailer so she could get and idea of what it look like on her's. Mine if the smoke colored one that I think looks good on just about any trailer.

Thanks for the info Gudmud!! I'm considering getting one myself and knew that somebody on the forum had to have one. The Pictures on the blog make it look a lot less of an eye sore than I thought it would be! Do you have the Maxxair or Maxxair II?

mine is just the Max-Air just like the black one in your first group of pictures and cost about $40 new at Camping World if I remember right. The smoke/black one I have costs a bit more than the white ones being it is made of a different type of plastic and is translucent being light come though it. (Like a tinted window)

My 06 Little Guy 5' Platform had one on it when I bought it. Don't know if it was original equipment as I am the second owner. It is great in the rain. I understand that you should not use a fantastic fan with it as it has a filter type of setup that impedes air flow. I don't have any electrics so no problem there. I don't know about keeping the vent open all the time here as there are plenty of cats and they do pee on things! Also I have wanted to buy a cover for my tear but they do not allow for the extra height. It is easy to change so I guess that would be an option as to what you are doing with your trailer at the time.

Thanks For all the insight Ted (Gudmund) I'm still contemplating which vent cover to go with. Thanks Tucguy for the photo, it really helps to make a decision between the Maxxair and the Camco Aero Flo. Decisions, Decisions….

I use a car cover that I got at Costco for about $35 that works fine over the MaxAir and the trailer at the same time. (have a NEW +$200 Adco cover I got on close-out at Camping World for $110 that I have never used, It's for a 6 foot wide teardrop trailer "Little Guy" - mines a 4 footer. Just can't get around to using it being the Costco one works so well and cheaply and the Adco one is new - never used - will probably be selling it)

Dirtyfootcamper, just looked at Brian and Sandi's trip to Washington info (will be meeting them tomorrow at Baker Lake after work) and realized you were the asking about the MaxxAir cover from Everett after seeing the picture of your trailer in both blogs - We have blogged here before and I am the one with the cover here on Camano Island just up the road from you. Take care Ted Hoefer

Too bad this doesn't collapse down when the vent is shut, from the picture it looks like it could...Wouldn't that be a heck of an idea!! :)

Yes it would be nice. Those are vent louvers on 3 sides. You can unscrew the top and take it off to clean it. I like leaving the FF vent open while traveling to allow the hot air to exhaust.
