Gone to the Dark Side

OK... In doing some searching for parts to start a build on my very first TD I found the perfect donor for some parts. I was looking for an old used-up camper cheap that had some of the more expensive options and some parts to salvage to build my family TD. What I found, purely accidentally, was a 2005 Rockwood pop-up camper. Roof mounted A/C, LP Furnace, Power Converter, Axle, 3-way Fridge, lights ect ect.... Second owner selling for $500.00 locally. The Craigslist pics showed what appeared to be a very nice condition camper. I had no choice but to at least take a look! Sounded too good to be true, but when I arrived, I saw for myself. Absolutly immaculate! I would say above average condition acuaully! Although I'm in for a great deal since this camper has a book value of over $4000 I'm not into robbing anyone. I had to ask why it was listed at $500.Thinkng it was a typo in the listing. Without too much detail the seller was in some very serious family/finacial trouble and in a hurry to raise money. Rather than having someone else rake this family over I decided to buy it and gave the seller his asking price plus what I could afford that would have been spent on a TD.
So I am now the happy owner of a pop-up instead of a TD.I guess the TD project has been put on an indeterminate hold. The DW really loves the pop-up.124615

That is not the dark side. That is just smart. You can use the pop-up for a time. Then, if you like you can come back. You are still welcome at teardrop events.

Who says you only can have one or the other.
At the gift price of $500.00 (less than a week in a hotel) you can go out and find another one for your Teardrop Project.
Remember TD camping is a whole other ball game and a way of life that you will get easily hooked on.
I camped for 50 years before getting into my own teardrop, and the people I have met since that are a whole different breed.
You might think a TD is a simpler or easier way to camp before you start........but you will soon learn that it is all about the people you are about to meet.
So don't give up you camping dreams, just expand them!
