How much time are you devoting to the trip? Do you already have any "must see" points picked out, that will dictate your route? What types of things would you like to see/do along the way? (Hiking, caves, cities, scenic drives, whatever)

I don't think dates have been set for 2015 yet, but the Little League World Series is held in Williamsport, PA each year. It was in August this year.

I've heard good things about the "Tail of the Dragon". It's a section of US 129 between Tennessee and North Carolina. It has 318 curves is 11 miles. It also has a 30 MPH speed limit, and I hear it's strictly enforced. I recently saw an article on "11 coolest small cities" in the US. Sedona, Arizona and Asheville, North Carolina were on the list, and would be easy stops to add to your route if you chose to drive the Dragon. You could also easily add in stops in Washington, DC and Gettysburg, PA.

I'm sure others here will also chime in with some suggestions.

Edit: It adds distance and tolls, but Chincoteague, VA is a small town I love to visit, including a visit to Assateague Island to see the ponies and other wildlife as well as the beach. Adding the stop here will allow you to see the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. It will take you across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and there are several options for continuing north, the "Bay Bridge" would be the best option, if you're including a stop in Washington, DC.

If you do the southern route, check out Williamsburg VA cool historical area. William and Mary College has a building built by Paul Revere and is still being used as class rooms.

What an open slate. Seems like you must like baseball. Maybe Wriggley Field and/or Fenway Park. Pioneer Village in Nebraska has a campground and the museum is certainly worth a day. Henry Ford Musuem at Dearborn would be a "do not miss" in my book. The nearest campground I found there was a real nice KOA about 45 miles west.

Any National Park or National Monument that you can build into your route would be great. I like them all.

Can I go with you?

As you live in Las Vegas, I would do the interstate until somewhere eastern KS or mid OK. This gives most time in the east. Figure you can hit anything in that distance on local trips.
Not knowing the interests of you and your party. Since your trip is baseball visit the MLB stadiums on the way
Just go to the National Forest & NPS websites and see what catches your eye.

A few thoughts
CO Bishops Castle
KY-TN-VA Cumberland Gap is lovely
NC Smokey Moutains
OH Wright-Patterson Museum
PA Allegheny National Forest
TN Charlie Vergo Rendezvous & Jim Neelys BBQ. How I was bribed to go to Graceland.
VA Skyline Drive – North district is most popular GW Nat Forest
WV Seneca Rocks/Spruce Knob, Green Banks NRAO

Hiker has put together a terrific list of great recommendations. I would add to that list parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway that runs 469 miles of two lane, limited access road from the Great Smokey Mountains Park to the Skyline Drive in Virginia. Great sights and small towns all along the way. Ashville and Floyd are two that I would recommend. Send for the maps and brochures on the parkway. I usually make the trip, at least one way, twice a year. Allow twice as much driving time as you think because you will stop at least every ten miles to take photos.....sometimes every mile  The Bluegrass Music Museum is a worthwile stop where you can usually hear local talent performing free concerts or jam sessions on most afternoons. It is a very memorable drive. Maximum speed on most of the 469 miles is 45 MPH. Enjoy! Bill

There are some great stops along the Blue Ridge Parkway to stop at and take a great hike or two. One of my favorites is around Grandfather Mountain on the Parkway in NC. The Grandfather Mountain Viaduct is great.

It was built so as not to disturb the natural beauty of the area.

If you want to avoid the major interstates in Pa. (Pa. Turnpike and Route 80), work your way up to Route 6 which crosses the northern tier of the state. National Geographic called Pa. Route 6 "One of America's Most Scenic Drives." Google "Pa. Route 6 Alliance" for tourist information. My recommendations for stops would include the Pa. Grand Canyon (Pine Creek Gorge), the Kinzua Bridge Skywalk and any of the numerous state parks along the way.

I will be below Route 6 this Friday at Leeper. It will give me a chance to see this area. Any chance that the fall colors will be starting to turn there?

Should be, I'm further south, and things are starting here.
