Question about trailer value

Hello!
I'm new here, am set to build my teardrop but ran across something today. Unfortunately the pics I took disappeared from my phone so I will have to describe.
Basically it is a teardrop built in the late 40's and is not home made. It does have the mfg stenciled on the underside of the back hatch, the only part I can read is....

Burbank, CA
Anyway, the body is all aluminum and is in great shape. The thing is pretty much gutted out, the floor has rotted away and needs to be replaced. The rear kitchen area is all aluminum and has a small 2 burner propane stove. I've searched the net and haven't been able to find a picture. The front is not completely rounded, it is angled slightly at the bottom. It appears to be very solid and has a new axle. The seller is firm on 1600.00. Is it worth it? I will try to get a photo

The "Burbank" thing makes me think its a "Real" Benroy.

Just my humble opinion- Having been down this road with a couple 50's era travel trailers, my advice is to build your own at that price. You said the floor is rotted out, so no matter how "solid" it appears to be, that is a trailer that once you started looking under the skin would almost certainly need to be torn down to the frame and rebuilt from the floor up. At $300 or $400, it might be worth it for the salvageable materials and parts to use as templates, but at $1,600, I think you'd be buying someone else's mistake. Mind you, if you are just really interested a historical trailer restoration, then sure this could be it, but if you are looking for a quick head-start on your own project, these things tend to take 2-3x longer than starting from scratch with new materials. Just my opinion, hoping to spare anybody who hasn't done this the hard lessons I learned!
It'd be interesting to see a pic or two though for sure!

Yea sounds interesting but way expensive. When you say the front was rounded, does it have flat sides?

If you are handy with electrical and wood may have around 5 to 6 in it when you get finished.

You say the body is all aluminum? No wood except for the floor? If that is what you're looking at I may disagree with the others on value. If it is at all like a Tourette, No wood except for the floor, it's probably possible to lift the body off the floor in one piece, replace the floor and set the body back on. If so and the running gear is in good shape I don't think 1600 is out of line at all. A few hours work and a piece of plywood and you have a useable teardrop. Sounds OK to me. In fact, where is it. I may beat you to it.

I went back to where it was parked and it was gone! Not sure if it was sold or just moved and I haven't called the guy back.
No, its not the tourette either. Can't believe I lost those pics!
Anyway, the only wood that I saw on it was the three small overhead cabinets, the cabinets in the back cooking area were aluminum with aluminum doors.

Update....Yes he did sell it, had it for sale for about 10 hours and actually got his asking price of 1800.00.

Oh well, guess I will building my own! Is there a forum on building the chassis?

I want you to know it wasn't me that beat you to it. You'll be able to customize to you own needs this way so take heart.

Our '46 Moderistic is all aluminum except for the steel frame and plywood floor. It was made in L.A. From the description it doesn't sound like one though.

Well, least now I know! I usually don't hesitate on a good deal on things I know about, but this being a brand new hobby I was afraid I was flushing money!

Look up KenSkill teardrops. They were made in the 40', don't know if they made it into the early 50's. In Burbank, CA. also.
